Team Coco!

Bah, it feels like I only get around to blogging about every other week by now...however, I've been busy. Particularly today. Rather than getting to sleep in until 11, I had to get up before 9am to take a grammar test. If I get 70% or higher, I get instant credit for ENGL 203 (requirement for pre CMJ majors). So today was the last day I could take it...and the secretary wasn't there, because of the ice storm. Ahh great.

I had a stroke of brilliance though, and I came back to the Neuharth Center after creative writing. I saw Mr. Baldwin talking with Chuck Lubbers in the hallway, so I thought, "Hey, he's a brilliant person to ask!" So I did. Yay, Lubbers was giving the test today, and he extended the hours till after 3, so I could come in and take it after Ideas in History!

So I did that. Trip #3 of the day to the Neuharth Center. And I always end up on the other side of campus--never by the Center anymore. Ugh.

Now it's a wait to see how I did on the test. He said he would email me the results tonight, but I think he got busy, so I'm being patient. I don't mind, I'm scared shitless that I did horribly on it anyway.

Trip #4 to the Neuharth building was for the Volante meeting. Props for the tons of pizza, and the meeting went well as usual. I think my next article will be on the Leno/Conan fiasco.

Aha, I almost want to say that deserves its own blog post, but it's a big topic and I've got reading I should do. Long story short, LENO NEEDS TO GO. Why doesn't NBC see that? Yes, Leno's been a boon to their late night schedule, but so has Conan. He's been on there one year less that Leno--that's still 16 damn years. He's no less important than Leno. What they need to realize is that Leno's reached his peak. Now, they're just trying to milk the last remaining dime they can get out of him, and moving him back to The Tonight Show is losing money. Conan O'Brien is a fresh dose of entertainment for NBC.

Ratings get you nowhere. A reputation does. NBC's building a bad reputation now, one that means the audience cannot trust anything NBC says it will do. It certainly hasn't been keeping to its promise that Conan would have time to adjust to the show. Conan invested so much, and now this is how the network is treating him. I'm glad for those who have stood up for Conan, he needs all the support he can get.
