While It Snows, I Knit

Scarf #1: FINALLY done! A bit short but wide, and it goes with my chocolate pink gloves to boot. :3

Scarf #2: Just barely started, so I can finally focus on this one. All-too-soft pink eyelashness with black yarn, you sexy thing...

Scarf #3: Ahh, kinda forgotten at the bottom of the bag. I had too much fun with stocking up on red eyelash yarn at one point....maybe more pairings to come with that one.

I have a big ball of yarn similar to the eternally soft pink, this one more blue-ish. I was thinking of doing the same thing, pairing it with the black yarn, but we'll have to see.

All in all, my vacation has pretty much consisted of shopping, knitting and late night Corner Gas marathons. For the first week, I find that pretty productive! Especially since it's snowing now. Not a hardcore blizzard, despite my childhood hopes....but still counts. :P

Ohh The Irony

Of course this sort of thing happens. I'm ready to choose one of the coats, and what happens? "No longer available". Well that's promising.

Start looking at the other coats, and the same thing is appearing. Unless it's a size 12 or something like that, then they actually have something to choose from! Even the plaid coat was disappointing, the pretty wine plaid they had was sold out in my size. And the other three....didn't need them.

Now here's where the irony shows up. I check the puffer coat, and AMG they have it in an XS. Preferably I'd go small just because I don't know how they'd fit comparatively to the rest of their clothes, but still. Sitting right there, as an option, is an XS. Only in black, but practicality also came into issue, so going for the white would have been cleaning torture in my mind. So basically, my size in black was the only thing I could really choose from, unless I wanted to go VERY large.

And of course, the puffer coat is the one that HCB had  pointed out as his favorite. Seriously, this may be another sign. I'm starting to get tired of these signs, they make me get my hopes up. D:

Nuuude!

I don't necessarily have a problem with buying things. Most of the time at least. My problem is that I will go for long periods of time without buying something unless it's completely necessary. Which yes, will end up being the occasional undergarment or stuff to that effect. The only thing I buy on a regular basis is a book or two, and thanks to college I'm way behind on that front. So what is it this time I'm behind on?

Coats. The last time I bought myself a coat was what I call my brown bomber coat, which I got at Walmart. I remember buying it because it was February, and I had forgotten my normal coat at school. Plus I couldn't go without it because that weekend was my cousin's wedding, and there was snow on the ground, and cold weather does not go well when you have to wear a dress. So it was an emergency coat purchase, but I still love the coat to death. But I need something that's between classy and warm, which my coat sort of lacks on the classy front.

Therefore, these are the coats I'm looking at for the moment...and before you wonder, I have a card for Victoria's Secret that I want to spend it on. Plus I like their coats. >.>

The Trenchcoat of Woolness

The Canadian Pufferness...And Leather?

The Awesomeness of Plaid Coat

The Classic Wool Coat of Luuurve

Currently, the voting stands at one vote for the wool trenchcoat and one vote for the puffer coat. I think you could guess who voted on the puffer coat, but I can't blame him, the puffer tends to be warmer and it sort of reminds me of his green coat with matching military-issue gloves. 47 confirmed kills with those, or so he says. :P

However, I need opinions. Particularly before I buy whichever one I damn well please, then go back and buy an extra coat for good measure. And that last plan is looking pretty damn good...

Meanwhile, I really want this shirt: http://shirt.woot.com/friends.aspx?k=14639

Also, I think I've run out of steam on the shoe-buying front. Which is good, because I have my fair share of boots. Even though that number is at three. :P

One Small Step For Man

One incredibly high jump over the deep end for the small girl who doesn't know what the fuck she's doing.

It's a small step, an infinitesimally small step, but it's a step!

Sures is gonna be bummed that I didn't just say it outright that I like him.... >.>

And the Facebook thing was last resort, too. He came out near the end of my shift and almost went back in, until I lured him back by making him look at some coats I wanna get. Then right when I had my shot, the phone rang. IT RANG. Effin' DPS calling cuz they wanted a cell phone number for a kid in Olson, but uhh this was the Beede/Mick desk? Damn you, DAMN YOUUU....fine. Facebook it was then.

Totally chill here, totally chill............ :D

Late Night Amusement

IIIIIIIIII love drunk phone calls. Especially when they're at 2:20 AM and from my gay friend Adam. Because he then talks about how he can't get his shoes off, and how long his legs are, and then gossips about 'speculations' with me. Particularly about the asshole Richardson hall director. Speculation has it that he is indeed dating dumbass Allie, who can't keep any important keys on her to save her life. Bahahahaha!

Psychological Warfare

I'd never have the nerve to post something like this.....but thank gawd Michelle was just cruel enough to post this on HCB's wall, BAHAHAHAHA!

However, I did like it. As did Brookney's older brother. Ha!

All I Need Is Some Hot Cocoa...

At this moment, I'm sitting on my bed in my newish yoga pants, listening to Pandora Christmas music, Christmas lights plugged in, a can of Canada Dry nearby, watching the first legit blizzard of the year. So this is Christmas.... :D

I'm surprised, midnight tends to be the changing point as to what makes a good day vs a shitty day. And yesterday wasn't too bad. I had to get up early and work at 10am, but that means more monies! I didn't have to talk to Lindsay for any length of time other than 'hi' and got to handle and business-y stuff with the awesome Phil! Then HCB came and hung out with me at the desk for a half hour or so, but lately I've kinda given up on timing it. Mostly it was him playing music and looking for an iPod Touch or anything to buy on Best Buy's website. Also complaining about wanting food, he was hungry. So then a little after noon he asks me when I get off work. Depressingly, I still had to work till 2. Then yo, "Ah, if you were off I would've asked if you wanted lunch."

Ohhh snap! First time he's offered having lunch with someone other than Terrance!! XD

"I would've said yes, too."

Ha, my attempt at suaveness. :3

The rest of the day was just a lot of lazing around procrastinating on crap. I had two papers due at midnight, and I got those done no problem. It's the rest of the studying/homework stuff that I'm not looking forward to. Plus I've got to find time today to get some facetime at our weekend program and work the desk at the same time. Ahhh I can do it, with the way the day's been going, lol!

HCB also came out a bit after midnight to check out the desk, too. But every time he would say he was going to go study, and he would come back out. Twice. At least. We got a little bit in trouble with Kristi for kicking the volleyball around too, but I was too tired to really care, lol. Plus he looked really tired/stressed, but I mostly say that because he was much quieter than usual. Not to mention his music choices while there was...interesting. >.>

Fun fact: One of his exes didn't say much more than three words on their first date. That was brought up because Kacee was saying she tries her hardest to not say something overtly awkward or sexual when she's with her crush, so she ends up really quiet. Which I admit, I kind of do from time to time, too. Otherwise I say something REALLY retarded. :P

Seriously, I don't want to go take a shower and sleep with it snowing like this. D:

They Don't Pay Us Enough For This Job

You would think that freshmen would realize that when I'm not talking to you, that means your presence is no longer of use to me. Especially when you come by the desk to "hang out" and it's all in silence. But nooooo, he continues to stand there. Dumbass.

I want my book back so I can study, damnit. >:/

Friends, Yo

Gawd, sometimes I love friends, and sometimes I don't. They're able to talk you into thinking sensibly, and then they make you think irrational things.

Long story short, talking with the other immigrant Sures, who is a close friend of HCB's, has given me quite the confidence boost. As in he (and very possibly Trapper, since he mentioned something about him being present at the Facebook chat also) actually thinks that it's not a case of when Matt will say no...but if. And that is the complete opposite of what I've been thinking all along. Or so it has felt like the past few days.

And then he dropped the bomb, saying that he was sure Matt would kiss me anytime.

What.

The.

Fuck.

FUUUUUUUUUUU-- Thanks for giving me way too much hope there, seriously! It's bad enough that Sures had to go and make me feel all good by telling me I had a great personality and stuff like that...

It's still an iffy situation. I told him of my plan, and he said that I should go for it. He said that they've got my back. Who 'they' is, I'm not so sure, but it feels nice to imagine that it's the Burgess/Norton complex in general.

I still wish I had enough confidence to tell myself that I was able to top California. I still wish I could think that there was the chance that he would in fact say yes. I'm slowly trying, though. And if things go bad....then I still have the staff there for me. And my friends, who I can never owe enough to. :)

Warning: Lots of French. Not For Soft Ears.

Today, I feel like swearing.

Fuck. Fuckity fuckfuckfuck. Fucking hell, fuckin' a, faaaaaaaaack...

Hell.

In some 8 days, I'm throwing it all away. Because honestly, he's not going to talk to me after I tell him. I spent an hour and a half with Skye talking about it fucking all. And her vote was that it's not over till there's a ring. But that's going to be difficult for me. I'm having a hard enough time coping with the sudden realization that I lost, and I lost badly.

But the thing is, there was nothing I could fucking do. Absolutely fucking nothing. Skye said I was right for not saying anything, but there was nothing I could do. I was stuck in this godforsaken job, and California Dumbass who can't even figure out her own goddamn camera was free, fucking hell fuck....I am in this fucking job. And we are for the next 8 days. Or 9 days, whatever the fuck it is.

I'm so fucking pissed, I'm considering pulling a Lindsay when the opportunity arises. Oh, you're not getting much work done? Yeah, that's kinda hard to do with all that time you spend at the "library", those Norton dorms are pretty small...fucking bastard.

And the best part of it is? I've known from the beginning that he's an asshole. And he's going to fuck over a dumbass blonde Cali girl, because that's what he goes for...damn, for a few moments there, I felt kinda nice.

Hey, I think that made me feel a little better....she's interested in a fucking asshole. She's with a bastard. She's with someone who has the potential to ruin everything.

And because I'm equally the bitch that he's an asshole, I'm going to throw it all away on his last day. Thanks to Skye, she told me that I might as well just set him aside that last day, tell him to shut up, I don't want to see or hear your reaction, I just need to get it out. Fuck me, fuck my life, fuck me sideways, but I like him. Too much for my own good. And then I walk out.

Because I know he's not going to talk to me afterwards when I say something. But if I don't say anything, he won't speak to me anyway. He's not going to make an effort outside of the CA job to talk to me, unless I find him at the MUC or something like that. 8 days left in the job, and I've yet to see the inside of his apartment. Go figure.

Girls may be confusing, but he's Pandora's Fucking Box.

Never Say Never...Fuck You Kinda Did.

I'm pretty sure I just fucked myself into the friend zone. Because honestly, I know he will make flippant jokes and comments, but when it's in that tone of voice....I can't help but believe him. Especially when the word 'never' comes up, even indirectly and inadvertently.

Respect is one thing, but I'm afraid he respects me too much. Which would explain things, a lot of things. Things that I'd rather not dwell on. But really, you say you never will, and I'm not the all-powerful mind reader that can tell whether that's out of revulsion or something else. In my ideal-yet-still-not-that-pleasing world, that something else being you never will because I'm somehow out of your league and will never have a shot...which sounds strangely like defeat. Nor do I have the capability to tell just how flippant you meant by it.

Sometimes I think I prefer it when he asks if I'm fucking retarded and don't have a soul, as opposed to telling me he respects me. Because he's done both before. But considering how he doesn't respect Lindsay one iota, I know I wouldn't want to be in that position. And yet, the slight chance of being referred to as a genius pisses me off. Like how nice comments from him are commonplace--just look at how often he's said to residents that they look nice, dressed nice today, are on the totally opposite side of the spectrum with them being the absolute angels that they are, or in Brandie's case 'perfect'....I don't want to be called that. I for some reason love it that he picks fun at me, even though I feel retarded when I make an ass of myself in front of him.

I can tell when you're pissed, and I can tell when you're joking. But I can't tell when you're defeated.

And to top it off, how the fuck do you dig yourself out of a hole like that? How do you dig yourself out of the friend zone, and back into the realm of possibility? How do you dig yourself out of the idea that no is a very real answer again and again and again? And how do you tell yourself that even when you find them infuriating, confusing, even irritating at times, and yet you still like them...they still don't like you. Every other time it's the case where you find someone amazing and nothing wrong and like them but they don't like you, and the one time it's the polar opposite....it still comes with the same result. :/

All I can hope for is that I've made it clear enough that I'll still be there. Hey, I made it to the soccer games, and now the hockey games. It's not going to quit after you've quit.

In his words, fuck off...

Moral of the Story...

Don't piss off the staff. Today was case presentation day for CA class. And we had a blast throwing direct blows to Lindsay and all the shit she's thrown at us this semester.

To start, the first group that went had a nice quote from Matt. Ohh, did we laugh, but it was glorious because Lindsay was not particularly pleased....and why was she not pleased?

Because she doesn't like him. Never has this entire year, especially if she's been giving him 80 hours a week of work....then there was this past Friday.

Wednesday night, as I've stated, was when Matt was out at the desk with me pulling an all-nighter on a group project for class. Because like every other group, they were having issues with meeting at times when everyone was available; Friday, it was during the hall directors' meeting. So Lindsay is pissed because he missed the meeting, along with a 1-on-1 with her. These meetings don't last just 15 or 30 minutes, they last an hour or more...it's ridiculous. Now let's see how things went when he reminded her that school work, aka a group project, is more important than a meeting that happens every freaking week.

Matt: Academics come first.
Lindsay: But you have a job.
Matt: Yeah, and academics come first, let's ask Parker or President Abbott why we're here in the first place, it's for academics
Lindsay: Well I heard that you went out trapping with Bob and had lunch with him....

What. The. Fuck. This was where Matt flipped shit, and this is where I draw the line also. For one, I KNEW that he was with his group, because I was working the front desk at the time. If Lindsay had the fucking common courtesy to ASK me if I knew where he was as opposed to making assumptions, then all would be fine and dandy, I'd tell her where he was. But noooo....

Matt: First, I don't even know what the fuck trapping is, and second, where the hell had you heard that?!

Now he starts swearing. And based on what he told us, this was where he was also thinking "Yeah, and I heard that you've been sleeping with both Dave AND Parker, but you don't see me saying anything about that because I've got a conscience." For reference, Dave is Richardson's hall director, the same building where a certain CA has not only lost the duty keys, but ALSO lost her master key, and won't have to suffer the consequences. Other than that she's resigning, but whether she's being forced out or is of her own decision is debatable. And Parker, ohhh Parker.....the albino Dean of Students. How about that?

However, due to the swearing.... Lindsay: You know, most people don't use that sort of language with their superiors
Matt: Yeah, and I usually have some respect for my superiors.

Fuck yeah! :3

So now you get a glimpse of how Friday went. Now, on top of the quote from Matt in the first group's presentation, my group went last. And our overall point was that we are still students, and schoolwork takes priority. All three of us members stated it in some way, shape or form. And the best part? She was piiiiiiiissed. Grimaced during our presentation, even. And I don't feel an ounce of remorse. Honestly, I felt proud for us as a group to stand up for him like that.

I was just waiting for her to say something, I really was. But if she does give me shit for anything, she will hear it, and hear it loudly...oh wait, no one's said that they're coming back next year. Is that loud enough for you?

Itching for a New Project

I had an idea last night. One that probably isn't a very good one, but nonetheless, I want to make a scarf. But not just any scarf. I want to recreate the original scarf of the 4th Doctor on Doctor Who, worn by the one and only Tom Baker. However, there are a few problems with this plan:

1) The original scarf was 9 feet long, and 11 inches wide. I'm only 5 feet tall, that's barely half of what this scarf is!

2) Based on the website's suggestions, the yarn to use is preferably worsted, wool kind. And very well may add up to over $80 if I go by most of the top choices. Daaaaamn....really, I don't know if it's a good idea if that's the total amount. Granted, I looked online and others were selling their own replicas for $270. So I'm making a scarf that's worth $270 for only 80....but still. That's quite a bit for a scarf. :/

So that's my current predicament. I'd probably have to buy a new pair of needles for it and shit, but that wouldn't be so bad. It's just the price of the yarn and the sheer amount that I have to buy that's iffy. And the effort it would take to recalibrate the size/amounts myself is more than I'm willing to put up with...at the moment.

Maybe my mind will change when I go to Hobby Lobby sometime.

Twilight Zone?

Quite a few people already know, but the past few days I've been debating about telling HCB that I happened to like him. And the results were a whole slew of different results...varying from a big YES from many friends, to the adage "Be careful" from a former CA and current CA. So I finally got the nerve to ask Sures for his advice, because him and HCB are so close. And in all honesty, I'm glad I did.

Then again, what was his response? Don't do it. Went on about how now is a bad time to ask because HCB isn't in the right frame of mind, how it would ruin the friendship, and how HCB would most likely feel superior to me if he knew I liked him. And because this is Sures, who I believe would have both our backs, I'm listening to him. I'd been debating about saying anything because, well, if you have any doubts about saying it then probably don't...plus I'm extremely shy on those matters. Why would I say anything now? Mostly because time is running out before he's out of his contract, and sometimes I worry about the competition. I'm so convinced that I've already lost the fight when I could be totally wrong. Or I could just be overly optimistic. But after last night....it's hard to say.

Let's put it this way. I was working the front desk Wednesday night like usual, and of course I'm just praying that nothing real shitty goes down as it has lately. Seriously, the only reason I didn't work the desk last Wednesday was because the dorms closed at 6pm for Thanksgiving Break. So in reality, the last two shifts that I've worked midnight to 3am Thursday morning has been adventure-filled and messed up. I had no idea whether this Wednesday would have anything happen again, but I was going to laugh if it did.

Well it did. But in a different way. What happened was that a little after I started working at midnight, HCB came out with his laptop, with the intention of working on a big group paper due the next day. Yeah, which meant studying with me at the front desk. Long story short...uh, we actually didn't part ways till 5am. The desk usually closes at 3, and even after I had closed up most of it, we were still studying. And it hadn't even dawned on me until the next morning that holy shit, HCB tolerated my presence for 5 hours. That's pretty impressive, actually. Especially since I did a wonderful job at making an ass of myself, as I usually do nowadays. So maybe a recap is in order...
  • HCB asked at least twice whether he was playing his music too loud. Which he wasn't, and I was glad he was playing music, it was something different than the same-old same-old.
  • He also apologized once for his shitty singing. Even though I don't mind at all, and find it quite amusing when he does sing along to whatever the hell he's listening to.
  • Note to self: His favorite band is Led Zeppelin. But he also has a soft spot for Ave Maria. o.O
  • He doesn't have a problem with listening to classical music. That's what we listened to for a good hour or so, too. It was pretty nice, actually....
  • Because I made an ass of myself, and he decided to give me shit for it, I gave myself permission to punch him in the arm for it. :3
  • He complemented me on my Facebook picture, which felt pretty nice. For one, it's not like he commented about it on FB, he had to do it to my face, and it's been up for a while, lol.
  • While on the subject of Facebook, I had to let it slip that I knew about his second Facebook profile. Which I've speculated about long before Sam found it for me anyway, but that's no matter. I did let it slip that Sam was the one to show me, but I was vague about how much creeping I've done on it, little as I could do. But I made the mistake of telling him that Trapper was a friend on it, because he then removed Trapper from the friends list on his secret Facebook page, along with a couple others. So now no more access to certain photos... >.>
  • For as secret as it is, he felt willing to share who he had added to it. Which included a few NHL players, who he had to point out. I wanna know how the hell he has so many friends in high places, damnit!
Oh, he also conveniently mentioned that he actually had three profiles on there. Wtf. I don't even know what he'd need a third one for anyway, the second one had his brother and Chris on it anyway... >.>
  • He also knows how to treat my mentees well! I mentor a freshman named Hanna, and she's such a sweetie...she's also one that applied to be a CA next semester. I pity her for having to put up with Lindsay and the bunch now, but she's just too awesome to pass up! Originally the talks were that she would be in Beede, but that would be if Kati doesn't come back because she may be going to Australia instead. Or at least HCB was going to fight to keep Hanna in Beede, because he didn't like where they were going to put her, wherever that was going to be. So today I found out that yes, she has been accepted, but she's in Mickelson with me! So that may mean we're actually going to have a floor with two girl CAs with the way things are going....and I'm kinda hoping that she'll get to be my Co. Because that would be FANTASTIC! :D
  • Now that I know she's going to be in Mick, I almost wanna tell HCB thanks for taking care of her and keeping her close to Beede/Mick...jeeze. D:
  • He now has a small taste of my nerdy side. When Hanna was leaving to go upstairs, HCB had told her not to panic just because she hadn't gotten her CA acceptance letter yet. So she made the same comment at the end of the night, and I told her she'd be fine if she had her towel. Hanna had to ask about the towel, and both HCB and I said Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Because apparently he's also read the book. Whether that's plural or not I'm not sure, but sweet! But then I got all frustrated and giddy at the same time talking about the movie version and how the movie had to bring back the old Marvin from the TV series, which my dad happens to have on DVD. Now all I need to do is ramble on about Doctor Who with him around and my nerdiness will be complete!
  • I learned where basketball ranks on his list of priorities. "Basketball is my second favorite sport. Wanna guess what my number one sport is? EVERYTHING ELSE!" He even called basketball the most pointless sport...and I squee'd a little inside. :3
  • While listening to Pandora, there was one particular song that I knew I'd heard before and liked, and HCB definitely liked the song, so somehow we had the best synchronized "YES!" moment during the night. I went straight into a giggling fit and asked him "Could we have synchronized that any better?" His response: "I don't think so.
  • Second synchronized moment was when the custodians were coming in to start working a little before 5am. For some reason, we both said "See ya" the exact same time in the same way as they were leaving...and it was a little freaky. o.O
  • He likes the pressed coffee, which intrigued me a bit. Then he poured it in a giant blue coffee mug, which actually reminds me a lot of my mom's mugs that she uses because she REALLY likes her coffee...so anyhow.
  • I'm starting to think he likes his wines dry, because he has a tendency to give the impression that the sweeter wines are just not his thing. Random fact I learned while I watched him shop online for wine. :P
  • It was also amusing hearing him exchange messages on Facebook with one of the Beede freshmen. Holy crap, that CiCi...she not only plays with Kacee's laser pointer like it's the latest shiny toy around, but she's just not that bright. Although she did call him a womanizer, when she's probably right in that respect. Lulz. But I did laugh when he said "I'm pretty sure I just used a word that she doesn't know what it means..." It was captivate. Really.
  • He also spent a good portion of the night complaining every time he stood up. He always has hockey practice on Wednesday nights, but one of the kids tripped him on the ice or something accidentally. So he was all in a tizzy over the bruise on his hip and his freaking knee which only further shows his age. But today he was still sore as hell in the hip, so he was starting to wonder if he'd fractured something. That's why I don't get the appeal of athletes sometimes, they turn old before anyone else just from the complications. :/
  • Another random fact, he told me that he broke up with one of his former girlfriends because she had dyed her hair black. He really doesn't like black hair. o.O
  • At one point when Kati was at the desk with us, he randomly turned to us and asked us who our favorite actors were. And actresses. Which led to some interesting discussions about different guys. He questioned whether I liked my man Matt Bomer for his acting ability or his looks, and I had to say BOTH of course! :3 But I can forgive HCB, because he doesn't watch enough TV. :P
  • ALL of this shit happens, and he doesn't bother to ask till 5am why I was still awake. After we had sat there for the last hour or half hour just listening to music and not talking. Then again, when he did talk, it was all swearing because he was just that pissed at his group and their paper, but I was cool with it. Plus I was trying to crank out some stuff for shitty XDIS and half-ass a source for Basic Newswriting.
I don't really think it's worth applying to the list of awesomeness, but Miss California-but-isn't-actually-from-Cali did talk to him on Facebook during our time at the desk. Key phrase, she talked to HCB. She was the one to initiate the conversation, then used some shitty French to impress him or something. But who can he actually ask if he wants a legit French conversation?....well, technically Elvira from Burgess/Norton, but I kind of count, too. Plus I would be able to remember that oh yeah, Quebec French doesn't use vous. Come on, woman...I'm pretty sure the conversation didn't last longer than 10 minutes, 15 at the most. But I had 5 hours that night.... :3 I was also amused when he was looking for people to post an ad for Molson Canadian Beer from YouTube, and Cali's name came up. His initial response was "OH she's Anti-Canadian!" and sent it. Ooooook.

But now it's past 3am and I'm starting to forget what I might've wanted to add in here...but anyway. I'm still hooked up on the whole 5-hour thing with me. I mean, we were both there a full 2 hours after the desk closed. He didn't say anything about my sticking around until 5am. He had every reason to study in his room like he usually does.

But ah well. It was a promising night, considering that I've been so reluctant to tell him. Sures says I shouldn't say anything, I don't, and HCB just seems to come around for me that night. :P

Mr. Brightside

I think, after a sufficient amount of debate and evidence.....I lost.

To California.

And now with the inevitable...I don't know if it even pays to say anything. :/

Catching Up On Absolutely Nothing

So. I feel a little behind now, just because I didn't blog about the past week or so. Hell I don't even know where to start by now.

Well, last week HCB decided to make me his messenger on two occasions. First time was to text and ask if he had any mail in his mailbox. The second time he actually called my phone to tell whoever was at the front desk that one of the guys on duty would be running a little late. Of course, the one time he's ever called my phone and I don't even know it because my phone now sucks about vibrating when I'm getting a call....grawr. Oh well.

Then there was Wednesday night. Aaaaaaaaaaamg what a lovely Wednesday night. Here, I shall map it out for you. First, a couple friends and I went up to Sioux Falls to do some shopping. As an added bonus, I came home to surprise the parents with a quick visit. It probably could've been longer, but I was coming home for the weekend anyway, so it was mostly to please them by stopping by for once while I'm in town, plus my dad's birthday was Thursday...yay surprise! This was apparently the week of surprises though, because my cousin Sean came up from Miami to surprise everyone at their lunch gathering. And of course, I didn't get to see him. :(

But anyhow. We go shopping, and Sam picked out an awesome outfit for her sorority formal on Saturday. We come back from Sioux Falls, and had to have a floor meeting with the residents/hall director. Nothing bad, but with Thanksgiving coming up, it's better to give all of the directions to them there face-to-face.

Meeting is followed by....I don't remember what. I think there was some Grease at the front desk, and Kacee dancing on the counter, I don't even...but anyhow. I then worked the front desk at midnight, which was the same time that HCB came back from hockey practice. It was amusing hearing how lax he was on the guys, and how if he'd trained them the Canadian way most of them would've quit, lol.

Working the desk was rather eventful again, however. Rounds didn't actually start till about 12:20 or so because Laurel was running late. They go on rounds, and I'm finally left alone....up until about 10 minutes later Jared walks in. And he's the hall director on duty, which means something's up. He goes up, comes back out, takes some notes, then settles in at the front desk with me as he gets a call about having to take a girl's pulse. DPS shows up; more fun ensues! Dillon was supposed to do rounds at 12:30 over in Richie because of the missing master key; he comes sprinting back at about 12:35 into Beede. I get a call asking to find someone else to cover the rest of Beede and Mickelson for rounds. Ohhhh boy, this is going to take some time....Michelle gets in on the action. More DPS, more Jared, etc etc...

All of the running around caused me to tell HCB that his building is going crazy via Facebook. Which actually led to a rather amusing conversation. I think the best of it started when I asked him if the cable was out in Beede, because one of the backup duty girls had texted me that kids were going crazy in Mick without their cable. He then told me that yes, it was out, and that he doesn't watch tv. All he does is cook and watch movies. Which then brought up how he's used to cooking with a bottle of wine, but he can't do that on campus, so he's looking forward to stocking up his wine cellar when he moves off campus. Which made me think of the idea to make the storage room a pantry for us to hide food. His response? AMEN. Ahhh agreement, feels like a small success... :3 He also made the random comment that he might be pregnant because he was suddenly feeling nauseous...but he couldn't spell it right....but it made me giggle, in front of Phil no less. Which was when he decided to go to bed.

Trust me, when Phil is in the building, shit is going down! He's the assistant dean of students, which is pretty high up there. But he had come in to deal with one of the girls they were having troubles with upstairs. So he's here with DPS till about 2:30, and the girls were in the back documenting long past 3am when I had to close up. I still had 3:30 rounds to cover over in Richie, so I went back over there to do that. Come back at 4am, and what's going on? Dillon's at the desk with it partially opened back up with Michelle. So I keep Dillon company for a little while, and he's on the lookout for DPS. Amggggggg so I'm up till 5 or so watching for DPS with Dillon, partially because he needed to take a fuckin' nap. We were absolutely beat....and what was going on upstairs? We had Laurel, Jessie, Kacee and Sarah all watching an empty, locked door. And they were doing so till about 8 that morning. O.O

So, to recap. Laurel and Jessie on their marathon duty night involved an alcohol incident, a sick resident, pot, mean messages on a whiteboard, an apparent assault report, and a strange kid running out of a room and off the floor randomly. I know there was more, but it was basically every issue you'd ever have to document all in one incident. By the time they were done, the whole documentation was over 1,500 words. By the time HCB had the judicial reports done, there were at least 10. Three of them on the same kid.

I don't even know how they did it....I was finally so beat at 6am that I fell asleep on my floor. I was afraid to crawl into bed and sleep because I had a quiz at 9am that I couldn't miss. Holy crap..... D:

Now for tonight. We learned exactly what HCB has. And it issssss aquagenic urticaria. Aka a skin allergy to water. He even explained to us that he has to take drugs before he showers, but they make him pass out about an hour later, so the images that were coming to my mind were just hilarious....lol! XD

But in all seriousness. He said that he's one of some 10 people to have it. He's also allergic to gluten and is lactose intolerant, so how he eats...it's almost sad. But apparently he didn't know about the gluten allergy until he was 21. Interesting tidbit of the night.

And then we made jokes about him having the Freshman 45 even though he was technically a junior in college, and how Alex was going to go back to her floor, take a long shower and eat Oreos thinking that HCB can't do all of this! Annnnnd I giggled. A lot. :3

An Algorithm to Facebook Creeping

I have one thing that has been bothering me for the past couple of weeks now...Facebook has the Friends on Chat section on the left-hand sidebar. You know, where they put all the profile pictures of random people online. But the list isn't very random. And I'm trying to figure out how the hell they organize people in that box section, let alone decide who shows up there. Is it based on who you creep on the most? Seriously, people that I haven't talked to in foreverz still appears on the side with the pictures. So then is it based on who creeps on you the most? Do they have to've creeped on you recently? Or have you creeped on them recently? Did they do something worth creeping on?! Wtf...

There is an algorithm to this. And I'm determined to find it. >.>

In other news. I'm putting off a piece for the newspaper, a chance to edit our group paper for XDIS, and a paper/presentation that's due. All of it should probably get done before I go to sleep. Yay procrastination!

I'll have to fill in the past few days later then if I want to procrastinate effectively...hmm.

Raaaaaage Time

Earlier this year, we had a small conniption amongst the higher-ups because SOMEONE was stupid and lost the duty keys from Richie/Olson. That personnnn who shall not be named *coughAlliecough* was just damn lucky that the AA50 key wasn't on the duty set, because it's those keys that get us onto all of the floors in the halls. And we're talking ALL the halls. It's how I can get into McFadden so sneakily... >.>

Anyhow. Cut to last night. Guess who lost her master key! Her goddamn fucking MASTER KEY. Oh yes....and what does that master key open up to? Every fucking room in Richardson Hall. Every room, on every floor. Holy. Shit.

How she still has her job, we have no effin' clue....actually, we do. Or at least we have suspicions. But the thing is, if she lost a set of keys before, then how the hell did it come to this? Seriously.

Fucking hell. If it were anyone else, they'd lose their job already. >:/

CA Interviews: Part Deux

I don't usually like starting off my mornings before 10am, much less 8 when I have to get up for classes. So today I had to get up at 7:30 so that I could go to CARS at 8 freaking 30 in the morning. I think I started it off right though, I made sure my alarm was set to play 'Fuck You' when it went off. Success!

And no, I was not late, despite what HCB said when I came downstairs. I was perfectly on time, on the dot. But he, now he was earlier than the rest, so I made sure to give him crap for it afterward. It was fantastic, I even made sure he knew it when I said "You were actually pretty early this morning...almost say that you were a bit premature there." And his response was "I always come early." And to top it off, he had one of those grins where it seemed like he was smiling, but was really close to laughing. That sort of thing. Double success! :P

CARS went pretty well, too. I didn't have to dress up too fancy, unless my Nascar jersey counted as fancy. I also wore my Candies boots, which got more attention than anything else...of course, lulz. Plus it was awesome getting to lead a group! Us leaders John, Brookney and I had to dress up as a particular sport (for the Gatorade theme) so I was Nascar, John was football, and Brookney was soccer. Which was slightly amusing since it was technically football and football.... :P Then Brookney borrowed Hot Canadian Bacon's Liverpool jersey with his name on the back, so we gave her crap if she said something strange or was acting weird. Which is quite common, but that's why we love her!

My group was a pretty decent group, but we only had one guy amongst them. He was kinda strange, and by far the oldest of them all. Has a good sense of humor, but it's sort of misplaced. The rest were girls, and as a collective they were pretty good, too. I think I was enjoying the whole moving from one room to another to see how everyone does things more. First room we went into was led by Trapper and Dave, and after getting disoriented by the whole musical chairs that happened beforehand, it was certainly interesting. The group did really good in actually talking right away. Trapper was a lot more serious than I thought he'd be during the whole deal, and Dave always has to give me shit for my clothing choices...not like he has much else to pick on me for, ha!

Second room was even more fun, that one was led by Jared and HCB. Not gonna lie, but HCB topped Trapper in strangeness this time. I was amused that HCB made everyone say where they were from, mostly because it was his chance to say he was from just outside Toronto. Then when Jared & him got the kids to work on their little activity, he had his strangeness show. So he unstacked the extra chairs on the side and put one down for me, then he took a second one and put it directly behind me and facing the window. Just picture the chairs back-to-back, but with about two and a half feet between them. He really wanted to look out the window apparently? I dunno, it was just really amusing to me. Although I was also really impressed with the way HCB asked questions too about why they were choosing the order of their important messages in the activity. It was pretty sweet. Then when Jared took over, HCB sat down in the last extra chair against the wall, facing me. I thought there were psychological messages behind the whole sitting and facing people thing.....I dunno.

Last room was the egg drop one, with Kristi, Dan and Manda. I love Dan, he's so sweet, and him and Trapper together last year for my CA interviews was pretty great too! I think the most amusing part was who we all had in the room. It was like a strange game of musical chairs there, too. I sat down next to Andrew, Andrew moved to the other side of the chairs, Terrance moved over one, and Dillon Dell & Taylor swapped sides also. Dell is so freaking weird....he not only stole one of the other CA's hats and wore it awkwardly during the activity, he also sat there next to me and drew a picture. It was weird. He was slaying a dragon only a third larger than him and I was in the drawing. Gah..... D: Then Terrance stole my purple pen. I think part of that was retaliation for Brett and I writing on his whiteboard that we took something from his room and he had to guess what it was....but we hadn't actually taken anything. It was sure tempting, though! But ahh, the paranoia is so much more fun. :3

Then after the sessions was lunch. That was largely reminiscing about last semester's interviews with Missy, who was one of the girls in my group. Then the rest of it was yelling at Trapper across the cafeteria and him constantly telling Missy that she was fired. I was told I was fired by him too at one point. I felt pretty special. :D

Then I've had desk work since 2 today. That's always fun. Quite a few parents, some residents...best part was when Annie and Janessa came by. She'd told me Friday that her mom had made lemon bars, and one of the containers had HCB's name on it. Of course, Friday was a messed up day so I barely saw him during my shift, but Annie was willing to give me one! So now today I saw her, and I had to say "You know, HCB's in his room right now.... :D "

Now this is how you get Hot Canadian Bacon to come out of his room and fetch the lemon bars that Annie's mom made...

Me: I have something you want.
HCB: hookers?
Me: Maybeh.
HCB: my one true love?
Me: YES
HCB: doubt that
Me: You don't know that
Me: Well, it is lemon-y...
HCB: I'll be right out
Me:  :D

Bahaha, the three of us were giggling so hard when we were messaging back and forth. We even hid it momentarily under my sweater for good measure. I think the best part was that he was willing to share one with me, yessssssss......I also learned one of his favorite songs is Wonderwall. I knew American Woman was one of his other favorites (for obvious reasons), but now I can add to that list.

Now I'm hoping that he'll get sushi made like right meow. Because I'll eat anything that he'll give me.....damnit.... >.>

Which reminds me of another interesting night. Thursday night, HCB and Danny were hanging at the front desk with us recounting their crazy nights from the previous evening because we didn't have class Thursday. Now, earlier that night HCB had talked about one of the girls he met at the bars, a senior named Abby who was a Pi Phi. He claimed her as the woman of his dreams, which he's actually said about quite a few of them, which is kinda amusing. But anyways, he was pretty enthused about telling Danny, but all the more he got out was "I met the woman of my dreams the other night."

That was when Danny commented, "Is it (me)?"

Which was followed with a very slow few seconds of us not saying anything until I just nodded and gave Danny a semi-sarcastic "Yep." I didn't actually look to see if HCB was shaking his head or not, but he didn't give a yes or no answer. He didn't say yes, but he didn't say no, either. So take it as you will.

On the flipside, Brett and I were passing the front desk during rounds and HCB was at the front desk. He stared at me all angry-like. I stopped and stared at him back, but failing pretty bad at doing it all angrily. So he slowly flipped me off. I then attempted to flip him off with both hands while holding the clipboard. Ha!

Annnd I'm still waiting on that food. D:

Funniest. Desk Shift. EVAR!

We're known for having amusing desk shift hours when we have multiple CAs hanging around the desk, but this has got to be the best desk shift yet without needing any of the CAs around.

To start, it started at the very beginning with some residents complaining that some kids were blocking off extremely nice parking spaces with cones. After some talking, Sarah finally got the enthusiasm to go out and mess with the kids behind it. Didn't see her for another hour.

I had one freshman who was so very obviously wasted, still asked me for my number, and I was *this* close to giving him DPS's number. He then rambled on about how he had a sister/brother (finally settled on brother toward the end) that lived in Minnesota, so he was going to go to the Twin Cities right then. And it was about 1:30am. XD I felt bad for his totally sober friend with him for putting up with Mr. Drunky tonight...

Sarah came back about an hour after she left to mess with the kids, and holy crap was it hilarious to listen to....she managed to figure out who the kids were because they kept walking in and out of the front doors. Asked them if they owned any cones, and they said no. She stands out there later next to the parking space kinda thing and they come by, so they ask what she's doing out there. "Oh nothing, you?" "Nothing." So then she talked about taking the cones. They said "Well that was really rude, whoever it was must've put a lot of effort into getting them and putting them there." "Yeah, well they're probably going to think it's rude when they have to go find where I hid the cones." She hid them in another CA's car trunk, BAHAHA! Good luck finding them now, losers....

At some point, Sarah also got a drunk call from HCB. It wasn't a normal drunk call though, it was him calling because Chris wanted to eat with her. Or as he put it, "Do you want to do food?" She not only got the awkward phonecall from HCB trying to set up some late-night breakfast out thing with Sarah and Chris, but Chris also got her phone number and started texting her. She finally had to tell him she wasn't interested. He had a sad and stopped texting her. Although I think part of it was him finally passing out after so long....not sure. :P

Then later Sarah and freshman Kolin were out front smoking, and they discovered what I was told is called the Funbox. They called me on the Funbox, but scared the crap out of me because of all the crazy beeping that it was making out there. I didn't like my ears bleeding, so I had to hang up on them....then when I found out what they called me on, I had to go "HEY! I have the phone number to the Funbox! Go outside and I'll call you from in here!!" So they did. And I called them. And it was awesome. But the beeping made me sad, we're afraid it's broken somehow... :(

Annnnnnnnnd then Hot Canadian Bacon came back from the bars at a bit after 2am. Had that iffy sway/limp walk going on and tired as hell. Not gonna lie, he was looking fantastic still, but it didn't help that his shirt was left open a bit at the neck....dayum. So anyways, when he wasn't going "Wha?" to everything I said, he was not quite all there. I did ask him what happened to Chris, and he said that he lost him. Then for about a minute or two HCB was rambling in French...I knew what he was saying was real French words, even though he mumbled a good portion of it, but it didn't seem to string together complete sentences in my own head....so as much as I could've given him responses, it just didn't make any sense, lol! Even worse was one of his residents was there holding the door open to Beede, and she seemed just a little freaked that he was going off in French and she didn't understand any of it but he was kinda talking to her as he did so? Yeah, that was fun...and my official vote is that he passed out with Facebook open. He's still idle, and it's been over an hour. In fact, it's now after 4am. :P

Around 2:45 was when many of the CAs actually came back from their own bar-hopping. Amg, now that was also hilarious...lots of McDonald's food, lots of giggling and hugs (mostly from Robert, who's gay as it is but is all too flamboyant when he's drunk), some N'SYNC going, and I FINALLY got to hear the whole story of Dillon's night at the front desk when HCB kissed him. Amg. Freaking hilarious night. And then people were surprised that the desk was still open past 3am....what else do you expect when people are still coming and going? XD

And what did I get to miss out on? My floor getting busted. So all I had to do was sit back and watch as Kristi and the DPS cop and the CAs on duty come and go. Oh hell yes, just slid by lucky on having to deal with shit! :D

But holy eff, with all that I wanna get completed, this may be a close-to-6am run... D:

Allergic to Girls :P

Well then......

Laurel is now officially the second staff person to know that I like Hot Canadian Bacon. Whether she's going to say anything or not though....she probably won't. But I didn't tell her not to either. It always just comes down to stating a fact, and that I'm still not getting my hopes up. Especially since he won't be back next semester. Which isn't entirely concrete either, but with the way things are going....chances are, he's not staying here.

But I'm not even sure quite what Laurel thinks of the situation. I know she's been uncomfortable with the whole HCB/Brandie thing, and we're still not sure whether Brandie really actually likes him.

And apparently there's a letter behind the whole HCB can't date any undergraduates thing. He said he got an email or letter of some sort saying the other staff can, but he can't. I've no freaking clue....however, I have to love the custodians we have here. When he was talking about all of the allergies he has due to the whole celiac problem, the custodian on my floor Maria made the comment "You must be allergic to girls, too, huh?"

Aaaaaaaamg, Maria and Christy (1st & 2nd floor custodian lady) and I burst out laughing....I had to high-five Maria, it was just that good. Of course, he hadn't heard it the first time, but amg we were laughing so hard it was difficult to repeat it! Hells yeah.....

Gahhh now I have to go to Astronomy. Gag me, gag me now....eff it.

Something's Gotta Give

It's Wednesday, but it feels like it's still Monday, it's been that long of a week.

Honestly, the stress is piling up, and it's piling up quickly. Not just with all of the CA shit I have to put up with, but with classes, too.

Classes I'm doing well in:
Basic Newswriting
XDIS (grades-wise, at least. Of what few grades I've gotten back so far, they've all been above 90% save for one, so I'm doing better than it sounds considering my bitching and moaning about it)
Astronomy Lab
French (mehhh, barring he doesn't butcher me for lack of participating)

Classes I need to kick myself in the ass for:
Psych of Sex (because I'm too lazy to study for the few tests we have and there's zero homework points)
Astronomy (because I'm too lazy to even pay attention in the class. It's a crapshoot by now.)

Meh.

I'm lost at this point. I feel like I've lost all sense of caring about college by now, and it all stems from the CA job. And there was a time when they told us that we are students first and foremost--oh bullshit, we aren't students. We're considered staff to Student Services, people we can put to work for stupid shit they don't want to do. It all comes down to one word: RETENTION. Sometime they're going to have to realize that freshmen don't stay because Student Services is catering to their every whim, it's because of the school they go to that determines the majority of this. It can be from lack of respect for fellow students, it could be that the program they're in is crap.

How about this: If you can't retain the CAs you have now, how are you going to be able to retain the students?

There's so much emphasis that 'amg, your CA is your bestest friend in the whole campus! BOND WITH THEM!' that Student Services forget we're just here to facilitate living on your own. Suddenly when were we paid to make friends for you? What I am starting to forget is that these aren't just freshmen, but they're over 18. They're close to my age (and in fact, I know of at least one resident on another floor that's 3 days older than me), and they're what we would consider adults. They aren't children, despite our initial reaction to calling them our 'kids'. But the way we go about things, creating all this programming to get them involved and doing things around campus, I feel morel like SS doesn't trust the students to be responsible adults--more like these are the same high school students who need so much structure and assistance that they need to hold hands with someone through everything. That someone is us CAs. And so because of that, I have to hang around the dorms, waiting to cater to their every whim.

And yet, I'm somehow still a student. A student with my own set of friends, my own set of extracurriculars, and my own set of priorities. With the way things are going, I have none of those. All thanks to this fucking job.

Now today when I was at the U.Brew, I had one of the workers there tell me that I was her favorite North Complex CA....and I had the feeling that she was sincere about it. It hasn't dawned on me until today that no, I haven't done a shitty job as a CA, but there are certain people who've made it clear that I'm doing a good job, and said it to my face. Those people have been residents (both my own and others), CAs (mostly from Beede, go figure), and Hot Canadian Bacon.

Not my own hall director, Kristi.

Oh, she tells us all that we're doing a good job through emails and letters and stuff, but that's the problem. She's never told me, directly, to my face that I'm doing a good job. And I'm not the only Mick CA that has noticed how impersonal Kristi is with certain things. Yeah, this is one of them. :/

Mehhh Astronomy Lab, here I come now...

Domesication at Its Finest

Last night felt more like Halloween than most nights...hell, this feels like it's been Halloween week. So much shopping and spending time with friends who I haven't had the time to hang out with since the spring....it's been  roller coaster ride. But anyway, back to the past 48 hours.

Friday I worked 10am-2pm, rather than my normal 12-2 schedule. Nikki the staff assistant had a doctor's appointment to go to, so I got to cover for her. It was certainly fun, even though no one really stuck around long for any length of time. Except for the janitors, because the janitors are awesome! Shelley, the one who takes care of 3rd & 4th Beede, was running around in a witch's outfit with feathers and everything handing out candy. Then there's another janitor guy that comes by and talks with me all the time, but I can't remember his name...he comes to fix the vacuums every Friday. And this day we complained to each other about our jobs. He hates how little they pay him, and well....I've been tempted to not come back. It's going to absolutely suck not having HCB has a hall director, because he really was one of the best we've got. I'm all right with Kristi, but she doesn't do nearly as good a job. Even more amusing was when the hall directors came to the front desk and Dave was bitching about the charge cards for programming stuff. Apparently if we use up $100 of the $150 allotted to our floor, we have to go through four different approvals to use the card for that remaining $50. And Dave was pissed. But not surprisingly, HCB wasn't saying anything....which is understandable, he's going to be gone soon. Honestly, what sort of place is it if no one is satisfied?

After work I went over to Jean's place to hang out and have some fun. We had to wait a while for the two Sams to show up, so we made a Walmart run and get some food to make cookies and stuff. The most amusing part of going to Walmart now is that Chris is working there. First time I saw him in there I couldn't stop laughing for a good two minutes. But anyway, when we went back to her apartment and started making the cookies, one of her roommate's brothers came to visit. The roommate wasn't there, though, so he spent a good half hour or so hanging out with us talking. He was actually really sweet! And very easy to talk to, so that was also a plus.

Then around the time he left, Sam showed up. We decided to call Freshman Sam Frodo so we could tell the difference, lol. We hung out and played some music, ate a few cookies, Frodo came over, we had pizza, watched a cheesy movie that was just a little bit weird...sigh. There we go. Now to when we got ready for the Monster Bash over at Julian/Brookman. It took us a little while to get ready, so we didn't get there till about 10 when it started at 9, but it was probably a good thing. I'm glad I had Sam around to help with curling my hair and applying the makeup, she did really good! And thankfully the dress fit me perfectly, considering I ordered it online, lol.

Had some interesting reactions at the dance, though. One group thought it looked a little German, so I had to have my picture taken with one of the German exchange students. And that wasn't the only time that someone randomly wanted their picture taken with me.... o.o Probably the most interesting moment was when I had Captain Jack Sparrow pick me up and carry me toward the exit. Thankfully I knew the guy (Toast, one of the desk workers), but he said he'd been swapping hats with everyone that night. Because swapping hats with strangers was a lot better than picking up a stranger and carrying them out of the exit. XD

I'm glad that I don't wear skirts or dresses ever. And thankfully it was Halloween, to remind me why I don't wear skirts or dresses. But that's the nice part of Halloween--as Michelle put it, Halloween's the one time when you can dress like a slut and it's totally okay!

I have to admit, some of the outfits were awesome. My friend Walker was dressed as Rick Astley, Adam G. was dressed as Cristiano Ronaldo (brilliant), Adam F. was dressed as Britney Spears (only he could pull that off and fool people), Michelle was dressed as Juno, Kristi was Sue Sylvester, and many of the CAs were dressed as other CAs, as in they swapped name tags. Funniest one had to be Andrew's outfit though. He needed to go cheap, so he went with a robot. Tin foil all on a box with cardboard wings and everything. The funniest part was that on the front it said "Ju-Bot" (short for Julian) and on the back was binary, saying "Have a nice day". Amg, it was brilliant! And it was certainly interesting with Trapper acting as the DJ...but yeah. Pretty awesome. :3

Then at one point near the end I somehow ended up talking to Sures. To be more specific than before, I had made the comment earlier that HCB really should've been there for the dance. That one comment apparently spurred Sures to ask right away toward the end there whether I liked HCB. Well that threw me for a loop....so I went with the "What do you want to know?"

At least he laughed and went "Well that answer's obvious enough..." Which was then when he had to ask whether I'd asked HCB out. Nope.

"Why not? You two aren't in the same hall." o.O Well I know we aren't, but it still doesn't really change the fact that I work closer with him than I do my own hall director...and since I didn't really have the nerve to say part of it was because of job integrity, I told him my reasoning was because I 1) didn't think HCB really liked me all that much, and 2) I'm really freaking shy. Especially when it comes to any sort of commitment. And I really do in a way....I say no so much more than I say yes, partially because I very rarely like multiple guys. I might have options from time to time, but they're all theoretical. So I'm prone to having one interest and one alone. So when asked if I have anyone that may be option #2, I had to say no, not really. :/

Then later that night we went back to Jean's to watch How to Train Your Dragon. Woo!

Now on to Saturday. I got plenty of sleep, even though I pretty much just chilled in bed till 1pm, because I had to work the desk from 2 to 6. I think it was about 2:15, 2:30 when Hot Canadian Bacon crawled out--and it was very close to literal. He looked like he was only half awake, and the clothes were even worse...or better. The button-down shirt was only buttoned in one spot, and he was wearing a pair of women's athletic shorts that he got from his little brother at Christmastime. I'm not gonna lie, it was a nice sight....even though he kinda had to button up when a resident's parents and grandparents walked by, lol! XD

But it was pretty obvious he was extremely hungover, if anything still a bit drunk. He still smelled like alcohol and could only remember bits and pieces of last night, all of it sounding pretty hilarious. The stories came as he was trying to hand-stitch together two pieces of scarf together for the costume. And even that was difficult for him, because he dropped the needle twice. The first time I asked if he needed me to get it for him, and he said "No, this is going to be a test..." and he couldn't do it. So I had to get it for him both times anyway. :P

Then once Michelle and Alex came to the front desk, he was at least ready to get the makeup on. That was when I got to play with his freaking huge $3,000 camera and take pictures as they worked. Amg, it was fun...too much fun. I now kinda miss my photography days. D:

And I have to say, holy shit did he really look like the Mad Hatter once he had everything on. Seriously.

Then once I was done working, I went to Dairy Queen with Terrance and had dinner. It was pretty fun, and I got to nerd out just a little bit, too. Although I didn't realize until then that I had spent a whole minute talking about Doctor Who. You know how much information you can fit into a whole minute? Lots. So that was kinda surprising. :P

One Week & Counting

There's about a week left before Hot Canadian Bacon is done. He doesn't seem to be doing much better, since I know he went out to smoke Thursday night, and has been doing it sporadically for the past week, even though he hates it. Stress is not his friend on most occasions. :P

On the downside, it's Halloween weekend. Starting last night was the parties with TKE, and since then it's been loud kids and drinking all night. I'm so glad this isn't my duty weekend...

And now I'm waiting for the next shoe to drop. To begin, I was talking with Sures a couple times during the Julian/Brookman Hall Monster Bash dance, and Sures (technically a nickname, but we can't pronounce the actual thing) is what we consider the other immigrant. He's from Malaysia, and he's pretty awesome. Annnnd then he had to ask me if I liked HCB.

Ohh fuck.

So then we had a conversation about why I haven't asked him out yet. And what I thought of Kristi. But considering how close him and HCB are, I'm starting to wonder if Sures is going to say anything about that matter.... o.o

Bah, it's past 3:30 and I can't keep my eyes open. Plus there's a lull in the noise and I wanna shower before I crash. D:

...

.....HCB told me he's going to quit today.

Fuck. :/

Pot and Failure

Today was a lot better than I anticipated. To start, I skipped my 9am French class Monday. I never skip classes. And this was the first time that I'd skipped out on a 9am class, too. So I was pretty much obligated to go this morning. However, I was not expecting the phone call from assistant director Lindsay at 8:20 asking about if someone threw up on the floor near the back exit or in the stairwell. Wellllll no, no one had. And while I should be pissed that you woke me up, you woke me up. Very nice, since I was afraid I'd end up sleeping in again. :P

So I got there, still knew most of what was going on, explained to the crazy professor why I slept through class (amazing how understanding they are about fire alarms at 3:30am and wakeup calls this very morning, even though he said "You need to move" :/ ), then came back to the dorms for about 45 minutes. Did a bunch of crazy work during that 45 minutes, then went to my 11am journalism class. I got to wander to the MUC with Bobbi and just people watch, it was the greatest assignment evar!!! And I knew about half the people walking around, so it just made the assignment better. Then after class I found Hot Canadian Bacon and Chris while they were getting food, so I chilled with them for a little bit. HCB was talking with Stephen (one of the hockey players), and now HCB knows firsthand how much work lies ahead for our team. Losing 18-2 isn't even the start of it.

XDIS wasn't that great as usual. Psych of Sex was not that noteworthy, either. Yote Floats were nice though, Jessie and I just crashed on a couple of couches in the Pit Lounge and people watched again. Longest 45 minute wait for 4pm...gah. At least things picked up when we had our CARS meeting, but that was just putting fliers in the napkin holders promoting CA recruitment.

THEN the real fun began after all this. I went over to McFadden to hang with Jean and Freshman Sam (totally different from simply Sam, who's my other half from last year :P ) and we made a Walmart run to pick up cake mix and other random stuff to make cupcakes! I think Freshman Sam will be a favorite of mine soon, because when we were walking into Walmart I made the comment that "The wind is blowing me into submission," and she actually responded with "Just like a man!" I swear, the two of us couldn't stop laughing for a good 5 minutes....We then gorged on other random food...and maybe Facebook creeped on HCB because neither had seen pictures of him...then I had to go over to 4th Richardson at 7 to have some fun.

Some fun you say? Oh yes. We were burning pot. Woo! Long story short, because they missed a step or two in CA training, DPS came to burn stuff like pot and sweetgrass so that we could tell the difference between them if we come across anything strange-smelling in the hallways or something. Fuuuuuun times that was! Except that Sam the DPS officer doesn't have quite the experience to burn pot well....so it took a few tries. By the end of it, we all vaguely smelled like pot, and it was amazing! Bahaha...which was the cause of the title. I had  asked Sam check my sweatshirt and asked her "What do I smell like?" Her response was "Pot and FAILURE!" which made me burst out laughing, but she would know coming from West River...just sayin'. The Native Americans and rebels like their pot, and you get to know the culture even when you're not involved. :P

So I went straight back to McFadden and watched Glee with Jean, Sam and Freshman Sam. It was really pretty sweet, and since everyone wanted to procrastinate on homework, we played with makeup instead. I now know who to turn to for my Alice makeup! :3

I then worked the desk at 10-12am. Yay late night shifts! Except most of the people I saw were large groups coming back from tunnel tours....oops, was that tonight? :3  In my defense, I not only didn't want to give tours in the first place, but no one asked if I was going to give tours or anything. And as I really don't appreciate people just assuming that I'm willing to do tours, I didn't go. I worked the front desk instead.

Although, I did see HCB once at the very beginning of my shift, and again at the very end. Certainly not long enough, though. Almost like he's off in his own little world at the moment...and in a way, neither of us have really been around since about Friday. Saturday I was gone for most of the day, Sunday I was gone, Sunday night and most of Monday HCB was gone, and now Tuesday I was gone again. Sunday/Monday HCB went up to Mitchell because him and Chris had a funeral to go to in Kimball, which was a drive as it was from Mitchell...so the one time that I've actually had a chance to chat with him was Monday in the MUC when I saw him after class. It was only for 15 minutes or so, but still...it was mostly him pissed off that the directors had called him at 2:30am Monday morning because the duty keys from Ritchie/Olson was missing. And if the AA keys were on it, then that'd mean shit was going down....but again, he had a long drive in the morning for a funeral, and he didn't appreciate being called period. Sooo yeah. :P

He also asked if I was on crack because I suggested that Cabela's just might sell hockey shit, because duh they sell winter sports stuff. I didn't want to burst his bubble by saying I've got jewelry from Cabela's...lulz.

So yeah. He's going to get bothered by me soon. Because I'm pretty sure he's starting to worry a few of the other CAs, and he's definitely worrying me now. I know he gets stressed out by the homework load on top of the workload on top of the random shitload, but the shutting himself in his room or in the 'library' is worse than usual. And if this is what happens when he hasn't had sex in 6 months.....dayum.

I'm concerned this may be those 99 problems becoming 100....or 150. And that's the last thing he needs, a woman taking up his time. But if it is indeed Brandie, then good luck to him. Anyone who sends that many cryptic messages on Facebook to and about him is no good....take it from one who was guilty of that in high school. And when a 22-year-old is exhibiting the antics of high schoolers...well, she is from California. But still. All I can hope is that he's not responding to the immature tactics. :/

Now I have French review to work on, and hopefully get some sort of start on my observation paper for astronomy that's due tomorrow.  I'm assuming an attempt at talking to HCB is a lost cause tonight.

It's 5:30 in the Fucking Morning.

And I can't sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep! And I get up at 8am to not only return the master key to its rightful place at the front desk, but I also will be on the road by 9 to run errands in Sioux Falls.

So what am I doing now? Eating Jello, creeping on absolutely no one on Facebook, and not sleeping. It's 5 AM, after all.

Ohhhh oh oh! Let me tell you why I'm awake!! :D WELL, I had gone to bed at about 2:40 I'm going to say, it wasn't long after I had finished taking my shower. So what happens at 3:30? The fire alarm goes off. AMG AMG AMG.

Pretty much it was like this in warp speed: "Is that the fire alarm? Fuuuuuck I don't wanna...kk, I'm hopping out of bed. Grab phone, got meh keys, door open--oh shit should put on my tennis shoes not sandals--now RUN DOWN DA STAIRS and to the front desk to get mah key!"

I then run back up the stairs and start our task of locking up doors and making sure no one is still sleeping in their rooms. I'd already done about four doors on the girls' side before I finally looked down the hallway and realized OH SHIT I can't see the other side real well through all the smoke. Now, two things I must point out. 1) I had not grabbed my glasses, so I was rather in the moment about most of what was happening. No idea where HCB was at this time, no idea that there was anything in the air when I left my room, nothing. Literally, I didn't notice anything in the air till I was opening and closing doors, and by then I was like "What the FUCK do I do, just keep on going or see if anything's burning?!"

I just kept on going. I was almost done with the girls side by the time Kristi came up the stairs to help, because where the fuck was my co? He had the night off. Fucking lucky bastard.... :/

Based on what we could determine, there was no actual fire, just some assholes who decided to play with the fire extinguisher on the guys' side. The supposed smoke was really just particles from the extinguisher, but still, that was a LOT of particles. For some reason, they thought it would be funny to drag a chair out of the study and into the hallway, then proceed to spray the chair with the extinguisher. Yeeeeah, real funneh. You've now got an entire floor pissed off at you and they want to see you PAY. No really, literally. :3

And of course, who gets to clean up after it? Kristi and I! So at 4 in the morning, we're vacuuming up the pretty yellow particles. I finished up at around 4:30, so that wasn't too bad. I had gone back to the front desk in hopes of getting my keys back, but nuuuu, the master key doesn't work on the mailroom. :P So now I've got the master until then. This would be a moment that would be a lot easier to come up with an excuse as to why I still had it, though. Kids still knocking to get into their room, door locked after everyone left, yeah...ha.

However, because I hauled ass so well going down 4 flights of stairs and back up those 4 flights, all after being asleep as of 30 seconds prior, I had finally gone outside and couldn't stop coughing. Yeah, one of those 'amg I think meh throat is bleedin' type of deals. I'm still kinda fighting it, which doesn't help with the insomnia, so I'm hoping the Jello does.

That means, after a bottle of Mountain Dew, a big can of Rockstar energy drink, the adrenaline from running up and down 4 flights of stairs, coughing up blood and an extra lung, and trying to sleep in a hot room...this whole sleeping thing isn't really happening. :(

Kill Me Nowwwwww

XDIS homework marathon night.

Started at 4pm.

Ended at 11:57pm.

1 Rockstar and 1 Mountain Dew consumed.

3 papers due.

3 turned in on time.

Holy. Shit. I don't think I should try that again....it'll probably happen, but oh well.

And amg, I feel like my stomach's about to punch its way out of my body....I still can't tell whether it was from the caffeine, the stress of the homework, or the massive amounts of food that I consumed. I don't know why Hot Canadian Bacon has to be such a kickass cook, but he made potatoes, steak, and carrots, then proceeded to describe everything he did to them to the point that all I could think was foooooooood.... :9

It was effin' delicious. So much so, he gave me seconds. Which was more than he gave me the first time. But the second time was when it set in, and ohhh hell....I'm still feeling the effects. D:

I'm still feeling that Rockstar and Mountain Dew, too. I've been shaking since 11pm, and now it's just past 1am...holy crap. And I have to be up by 9 to go to Sioux Falls with the family to get my replacement lens, then probably do whatever...oh yeah, I need to fix the choker for my Alice outfit. :3

Sad thing is I have to be back by the night, but oh well. I can get things done pretty quickly. Apparently I was able to write three papers in about 8 hours...which was actually a lot short than that, considering the amount of procrastination and multitasking I was doing. :P

And since I was here at the front desk the whole time...yeah, HCB didn't help matters. Mostly with the food. But as I think between the studying and exhaustion, he's getting that semi-irritatedness that he had the other night again. You can tell that he gets frustrated when he has to work...and if that's a reaction to when he's got 100 problems, bitch included...well then. o.o

....aha, he's now going to bed. Supposedly. Lulz. And I'm still hyped up on sugar! Which will probably mean shower time before I go to sleep, then home. :3

Losing My Muchness

Productivity isn't in my vocabulary today...I've had pretty much the entire evening to work on it, but do I? Of course not. Haaa...

Last night wasn't too bad at the front desk. I at least had Michelle and Terrance to keep me company through most of it. I did have one interesting experience though, I had one of 3rd Beede's residents named Danny say that he needed to ask me a question. It went something like this:

Danny: I have a ? for you
Me: Yesssss?
Danny: Will you be my gf?
Danny: lol
Danny: jk
Me: Bahahaha!
Danny: but really
(Pause that went much longer than expected)
Danny: do you know any notary of the publics?

It was a very funny joke, but if he weren't....I'd have no effin' clue what I'd do. Other than say no. Because honestly, I'm not lowering my standards again. And one of those standards is that the guy is older than me. :/

I was totally gonna tell Hot Canadian Bacon about it that night, too, but he never came back to the front desk. Apparently he had spent the rest of the night cursing out managerial finance, as he hates anything involving numbers. Ironic, since he's getting a master's in business. :P

Speaking of which, HCB was in a bad mood tonight. I'd been at the front desk when he finally came back from the library (or where I assumed he had been), only to be promptly attacked from all sides by Kati, Bobbi and Alex about receipts and charge cards for programming crap. He looked tired as it was, but damn...I rolled on over to him in meh chair, and was there for all of three seconds when he said "I don't wanna talk about it" and walked off. So I sat there and stared after him with the look of o.o

Although, I wasn't going to bother him about it. Didn't send a text or follow after him. If he wants to talk, he knows he can...and he sort of did. About ten, fifteen minutes later after I went back to my room, I got a text from him actually apologizing for being so short with me earlier. I guess I was more surprised than anything else that he'd been willing to apologize right then, much less realize that he really kinda was. I just told him that it was cool, and that I'd either expected it a little or just knew that he was being worked too hard. But I made sure he knew that if he needed anything, I had his back. :P Even though I do kinda know that he would've sent that text to anyone, because he does have his guilty moments. There's been times that he'd say he won't go and keep Michelle company while she smokes outside because he has homework, and he'd go and do it anyway because he'd feel guilty. But it's better than nothing.....mostly because for a short time I'd wondered if he was actually mad at me about something. :/

Then later we went to Dairy Queen with Michelle and Jessie. And yes, it was a glorious trip filled with way too much food for 10 pm. :P

And just because I can point it out, sometimes I feel like I take one step forward and two steps back. Just sayin'. Freaking blondes...

Fuck, I'm watching Alice in Wonderland and I'm having a hard time staying awake. Moreso because I still have homework to finish up, or at least some of it. D:

Double fuck, it's almost 3:30 and I still want to shower. Do I dare put off the paper portion again so that I can actually get some sleep? Gah.... :/

I'm Most Productive at 2 AM...

I don't know if I'm going to blog about Monday. I admit, I fucked up Sunday night, and I think I paid for it all of Monday. So to cover the past couple of hours....

I've been surprisingly studious tonight, getting things done! I managed to type up the stories for the Honors Association tunnel tours and email them to Katie, then find and edit the rules to Beede's Quidditch match they're going to hold on Halloween....oh yes, fun story there. We thought up of having a Quidditch match. Those who were most interested were Laurel and the rest of Beede staff (of course not Mick, we can't get shit done most of the time :P ), and Hot Canadian Bacon was totally on board with it. What was I able to bring to the table? Oh yeah, Sioux Falls Quidditch League. So I found the rules on the Facebook page and let Laurel & HCB edit the rules so that it fit their match. I then edited it in Word and emailed/printed a copy for HCB. Oh yesssssss.

The rest of the night has been a study session. HCB and I took residence in the HD office, where he's working on his notes for tomorrow's test and I'm working on French and, well, everything else. :P

Granted, we're on totally opposite sides of the room. Which is how I'm able to get away with this whole blogging biz. But hey, at least he doesn't have his headphones in this time...

Today Is a Good Day

Hmmm, how to sum up today.....it was pretty much amazing, despite this headache that decided to form now. To start, I went to bed at 3am (as per usual pretty much). Woke up at 9am. Stayed in bed till 9:30. Finally rolled out of bed to prep for my adventure to Sioux Falls with Sam and Jean. Found out that Sam didn't wake up till 10, wait for her to come pick me up, and we hit the road at 10:45. Our blessed road adventures then involved many Canada jokes, singing badly to Sam's iPod, and rocking out to cheesy pop and hip hop music. Oh yes!

Our first and main stop was at the mall. Had to wander around the entire thing so we could make all the stops, which included visiting Sam's friend John as he worked at Hollister and wandering through Abercrombie & Fitch. It was so amusing, we walked into Abercrombie and Sam & Jean start coughing up a storm from the cologne. I apparently just stop breathing to ignore it. :P We also did some Halloween shopping at the Halloween Boutique and Spencer's. Lots of debating about what to get for Sam and Jean, but it was worth it!

Best shopping of the day: Victoria's Secret. Oh yesss. I'd told myself that I'm going to walk out with SOMETHING from the store, and indeed I did. Three pairs of underwear and a bra to match one of them. Bright red. Holy crap. :3

We then went over to Last Stop CD Shop to see if I could find a cheap copy of Alice in Wonderland. Sad thing was they didn't have a standard copy available, but they checked the Blue-ray copies...and whadya know, they had a Blue-ray/standard/digital copy disc available. $15. I snagged that shit up so fast... :D

However, now Sam likes to call Hot Canadian Bacon my boytoy. I don't know what to think about that...I told them that he doesn't like me that way, as far as I can tell at least. And he still believes that he can't date any of the other staff, much less students. But if he were....amg. :3

Speaking of which, still on the fence. He's still on the belief that of the women he's attracted to, it's the psychotic/bitchy women. Or at least the ones where you don't know they're psychotic till much later. I figured why not try and threw out there "Vicious?" And he nodded slowly staring off into space. The amusing part? He said the reason I'm his #2 on his desperate-measures-to-get-American-citizenship-CA-marriage list was all because of the viciousness, right behind Sarah. He's yet to update that list lately, so hmm. >.>

Sarah is so very accident prone, too....with her sleepwalking and anxiety medications to help her sleep, she had a nice large scrape just below her eye when she showed up for CA class today. Our running joke since then was that I punched her in the eye, and that's how she got it. I'm quite proud of my work then, lol! And yes, it's a joke I'll take pride in, considering I've actually never punched anyone in the face...plus I'm not exactly built for it. Too damn small to throw a decent punch. :P

Also, random fact: Apparently Thursday night was a lot crazier than I knew. Could we say...HCB's staff member Dillon may want to duck quicker the next time HCB goes in to kiss him on the cheek. Bahaha!

Not Meh Problem

Freshmen: The most....ah hell, screw sarcasm. They're the worst problem solvers I know. You were looking for me tonight? Yo, you left that note at 1:30 AM at the earliest. 3 AM at the latest. Why the eff are you looking for me at that time?

How about this.... 1) If I'm not in my room and you're too lazy to go check the front desk, GO ASK TAIT. He doesn't bite, even if he is quiet. But I'm not your only CA.

And 2) You know, all of you girls use Facebook to contact your friends. Yet only one of you has voluntarily added me on Facebook. Hmm....ever thought of contacting me through there? Or is that too difficult for you? Now have I made myself clear? :)

Meh, I don't feel much pity for people searching for me that late at night. This is college. I can be at any number of places: At the library, at home, on vacation, with a friend on another floor, blah blah blah....and considering how often I've had problems trying to find residents during normal waking hours, I don't feel much pity.

For some reason, I have a bad feeling that the note might've had something to do with a resident puking in their room. No confirmation of that, but considering how the residents were tonight...it is possible. And for that, I say they can handle it anyway. It's in their private residence, and we're not their maids. However, I'd be able to help just as a friend, but uh-uh, I'm not the person to ask if you want it cleaned up by someone else. >:/

Entertaining Myself....GO

This is the time where I come up with useless crap to say to entertain myself while working at the front desk from 2 to 6, while everyone else mills is coming and going to tailgating and the football game. Which starts at 4. Gahhhhh....

2:18 - I had just realized that I let Hot Canadian Bacon's real name slip in one of these posts. Good luck finding it, though, because it comes up multiple times, yet I wasn't speaking of the same person. Frigging luck there, right? :P

Amp is an all right replacement for when I can't get my Dr Pepper fix. But only all right, but not quite satisfactory or excellent. I also just noticed the reason that I've always thought Amp tasted like a hyped-up Mountain Dew.....Mountain Dew's on the can. Huh.

Last night in our cologne conversation, HCB let it slip that he was wearing Drakkar Noir at the time. I freaked out a little bit. Mostly because when I was younger, that was my favorite of all favorite colognes. For a pretty obvious reason...

Oh yeah. :D

Speaking of which, I'm thinking of making another Harvey Prince purchase. Before I absolutely had to get the Eau Flirt scent that had come out, just a little bit of it, which was my splurged present to myself last year. Now apparently they came out with a body lotion with the scent or something, which I'd be able to use whenever/wherever etc etc....I'm tempted to buy some. Even if it is wayyy beyond what I would spend at Bath & Body Works. It's so good though... D:

3:02 - Dr Horrible's Sing-Along is epic. For it being such a tragedy, it's so freaking awesome...yeah. And just now, a student and her parents walked by right as Captain Hammer said "The hammer is my penis." AMGGGGG I'm both appalled and can't stop giggling. :D

5:22 - I've got 40 minutes left. Yay! But I had to check in a couple residents because both of their new CAs were gone, and then on top of it I couldn't find the RCC for their room. Grawrrrr...so I had to make a new RCC for them.

5:29 - HCB now knows that I have a blog. Not this blog. But a blog. And holy shit did he pull out of the parking lot fast just now..... o.o Also, we're up 7-6 against UNI. Haaaaa.

6:21 - Umm, where the fuck is my co? He's supposed to work 6 to 8. I'M STILL HERE.

Meh, I'd be here anyway, but at least I'd be at the front desk eating something. Most likely Burger King, since it's right there across the street...fuck I'm hungry, too. :/ My problem is he forgets shit all the time. And I'm so torn.....I want to tell him to get his ass down here now, but at the same time, I wouldn't mind making another two hours' pay. Even though I've got a bit too many hours as it is. :/

Fuck it, I'm going to remind him. I'm done with the move-in guys and I even finished organizing HCB's programming shit already. Speaking of which, I think I'm allergic to programming. It made my eyes physically hurt to look at all the proposals and evaluations...oww.

6:33 - We're now losing 19-7. Ahh well.

11:13 pm - Ahh yeah, so rather than writing a new post, I'm editing. Woo! Well we lost, 19-16 or something like that. Meh, I was stuck at the desk the whole time anyway.

HCB told me he owed me one for helping with organizing his programming crap. I told him he owed me lots of ones. He knew that already though, lulz. This may mean he'll feed me sometime, yuss! He started asking if I like sushi or not, apparently my answer of "Never had it" didn't cut it. Saying yes to fish did, though? I dunno.

Also, Sam and Jean and I have ironed out the details to our Sioux Falls trip tomorrow. 10am we're hitting the road to the mall! Must remember that I also want to do shoe shopping and Last Stop CD Shop...but mostly this trip is for Victoria's Secret. We made a point of it about a week ago. Yay for planning!

Is This Real Life.....

Gawd, my head hurts and I don't know what it's from. Had it since before noon, so who knows what. :/

This morning Jordan and I went soda shopping for the Honors Lounge again. She's finally had it with the soda stocking, more so because she's heard freshmen bitch and whine about the selection of soda in the fridge. Like we care when it's college and all you want is the caffeine intake. So when we were shopping, we were trying to remember the list of what went over well usually....then I saw the Canada Dry. Annnnd it was instantly AMG WE MUST :3

We bought the Canada Dry, along with a bunch of other random soda brands that we don't normally get. They're either going to be pissed, or happy as can be. I'm trying to imagine the reactions of the freshmen if the see the Canada Dry, absolute hilarity because HCB is the hall director to the Honors floor, or hatred because it reminds them of HCB, after he ruined their dance parties in the lounge. :D

With Canada Dry in hand, I was dropped off at the front desk and prepared for my noon to 2pm shift. I prepared by getting myself an Amp. So at 11am I'd had a Canada Dry, finished off by noon when I had an Amp. Finished that off by 1pm. Had part of a Dr Pepper at 3pm, and finished it off at 10. Oww.

During my desk shift, we also just had to have a fire alarm. Stupid freshmen trying to fry tortillas in an inch of oil. An INCH. On 1st Beede, no less, so I could smell it at the front desk when I came back from our door-locking. It wasn't too bad though, thank gawd it was at 1 in the afternoon as opposed to say, now. I swear, if there's an alarm at 3am, we're all going to murder someone...

Then I went out to eat with Jordan at Chea's, which was awesome. Nice time to catch up with her before she goes back home to see her new baby sister, and I got amazing Chinese food! :D I'd told HCB about it beforehand, which made him want Chinese too. I told him he should come along, but nuuuu he wanted to go to Silk Road just two doors down and have whatever to go so that he could eat and work at the same time. And afterward he said the yellow curry he had wasn't that great anyway, so serves him right for turning us down. :3

After that was Despicable Me, which was adorableeee! Probably would've been funnier if I wasn't so tired already, but ah well. It was still so very fluffy. <3

I then held down the desk for Laurel as she worked on a paper. Gawd, I'm resenting the time that I have to write my memo and annotated bibliography for my class....she managed to write her memo in about an hour and a half though, which was pretty impressive. So I edited it while HCB looked at my Cosmo magazine and talked about cologne. /facepalm

Lots of people around tonight, though. The mass of freshmen band geeks that would take over the front desk whenever they came by, Brandie and her friend Patrice coming to practice lighting her baton with HCB for tomorrow's tailgating, the same mass that followed them out there to watch....holy crap, so much estrogen that I'm a little overwhelmed. :/

Laurel's afraid that Brandie just might like HCB after all. And when Laurel's afraid....whoa boy. But she had that extremely wary look on her face, I just gave her the tired look, he got the headshake from me at one point....my head hurts just thinking about it. Long story short, all but three balloons remain out of some 12 or 15 from this morning (they were out for Family Weekend, must make it look all pretty for what few parents we had come and visit!) thanks to HCB inhaling the helium, I'm debating about going to tailgating tomorrow to see more HCB and Brandie or try to sleep in, and HCB realized tonight that he gets at least one friend request on facebook a day, and it's always girls adding him. No surprise there, huh?

Tidbit of the night: HCB said something tonight about how for work, he's going to be spending winter break by going back to modeling. I know he's done it in the past, but I'm starting to wonder if it was just for the benefit of Patrice and Brandie. Because he would, and he always does. :P

High School Is So Over, Kthxbai!

For being about what, two days behind, I've got a bit to cover....so to start.

Wednesday
After my French class, I went back to the dorms to make a call to the attorney general's office. The main problem has been that since September 29, I've been getting random phone numbers calling me, all of them from different states. I always ignored them because I just assumed they were looking for the real Mr. Schlagel again, but then I started wondering.....so I googled the numbers, and turned out that five of them were all connected to this Portfolio Recovery Associates business in Norfolk VA. Great, I had a fraudulent debt collection agency calling my number. I had about three other numbers calling, but those were other suspicious spam calls, so I put my phone on the Do Not Call list Sunday night. Anyway, the attorney's office was very friendly to me on the phone, but they just ended up directing me to the complaint form online. Ugh. So I filled that out when I got back to my room, no big deal.

Not much else really happened until around 4pm, when I was at the front desk enjoying my downtime. No soccer tonight for some reason, instead it was now Thursday night. Which was probably a good thing, because around that time I suddenly had Holly (yes, THAT 401 room again) and Anna (bitchy one who doesn't know where her headphones jack is on her computer) coming to me at the front desk about switching roommates. Well apparently Anna didn't know her roommate Rachel had just gotten the OK to move into her new room. Gah, big mistake telling them that she was moving out anyway, because suddenly Holly was all on the ball about moving her stuff out of 401 and into Anna & Rachel's room, 403. Fuck, Rachel hadn't even gotten her new key yet and they were already trying to infiltrate. Of course they'd at least waited until Holly had finished filling out the room change request, but ahem.....you're supposed to wait till the hall director AND assistant director Lindsay had approved it. So technically, it was an illegal move-in. Ah well. The funny part was that then Sami (vacuum-fail 401) came to the desk saying she just didn't want to live on the same floor as Holly period, so I gave her a form to fill out, also. She was lucky, however, because who had just showed up? Lindsay. So Lindsay was nice enough to fill out the rest of it with her and approve it right there on the spot. Holy crap, now that was generous considering how fucking crazy all these girls have been....

On the upside, today I got an email from Rachel's mom thanking us for the swift room change. Wish it could've been quicker since she'd put in the request two weeks ago and they hadn't gotten to it till then, but ah well. Glad to be of service! :P

I'm still surprised that Lindsay and Kristi approved of Holly's room change, but ah well. Not going to question their logic every time. Meh.

6pm was my astronomy lab, which was all right. More fun was the Walmart trip afterward with Jean to do some shopping. Mostly because I owed Jordan a pair of earbuds. So I also threw in a 24-pack box of fruit snacks and a chicken rice 2-pack to make it up to her. For myself, I got string cheese, Jello cups that were actually the ORIGINAL kind, and a small pumpkin! Quite a successful trip, actually. :3

Thursday
Ahhh, Thursdays are always a bitch because I end up having to work the front desk from midnight to 3am, then get up at 8 for my French class. I was at least semi-conscious this time. Barely. I was trying my hardest to stay awake in Newswriting while listening to our guest speaker (he worked for the Washington Post, it was pretty sweet). XDIS was a special waste of time today because they made it a group work day.....yeah, when we have nothing to work on as a group. Fantastic! So we got as much done as possible, then left to go to the Honors lounge. I love the lounge, it's always fun in there!

Actually, my day didn't really pick up until 6 when I went to the Commons to eat with Kacee and a couple of her residents. After we ate, HCB came up not long after dressed in his soccer gear. Apparently the other team didn't show up, so our team won by forfeit, but that at least made me feel better for not being there. He was also on a mission to get started on a calendar he wanted to put up on the bulletin board next to the Bump (convenience store peoples), but apparently my Co is not a person to ask when you want to get things cut out....and since no one was really jumping at the bit to go to the programming room and help, I decided I might as well. I also added in the fact that I didn't have anything pressing to do since I don't have classes Friday, so I enjoyed listening to HCB bitch a little about that. :3

So I went on an adventure to the programming room with him. It involved a lot of bitching about how crappy the diecut choices were, but how they're so freaking expensive, etc etc....he also had to include Canadian Thanksgiving into the calendar, which made me giggle. It was also a lot of him singing, particularly the same three/four lines over and over that was stuck in his head but he couldn't place what movie it was from.....thanks to him, I now can't listen to Total Eclipse of the Heart without laughing. :P It wasn't a particularly long adventure, only a half hour or so, but it was still fun!

Then of course, he had to get his flirtatious side out when Brandie came to the front desk. It's bad enough when some of the female residents walk by, primarily the ones involved in volleyball or some other sport. Brandie's our twirler for marching band and is a good friend of Laurel's, so I've known her for a little while--but he's also not very subtle when she's around. Which doesn't really seem to help the fact that she found him creepy the first time she met him....I'm almost certain that creepy feeling is still around, just to a tolerable level. She does have the whole athletic, blonde, and over 21 things going for her, however.

I have to admit, I am surprised that I've spent as much time as I have with him the past few days--alone for that matter. Of course, nothing ever happens 'cause he's technically my boss. But to wander around campus & Slagle Hall with him, and now work on bulletin board stuff, that's pretty cool. I still don't know why he felt the need to share that he gained about 12 lbs in the past week because of his shitty gluten-filled diet, but I'm not taking for granted the fact that he was willing to share that with me. And it's always little stuff that I pick up, too--like how today I learned that one of his favorite bands is Led Zeppelin. Random things like that.

I'm starting to wonder if I've done too good of a job hiding the fact that I like him. It's not a bad thing because I don't have to worry about what the other CAs would think or what repercussions would happen, but at the same time, it may take some work to dig out of that hole when May comes around....but at the same time, I'm not one to say "You have to wait for the next 7 months until you can start dating again" because wtf? Meh... oh well.

All right, two things to accomplish before I go to bed: Put up posters, and take a shower. Now go!
