I Really Shouldn't Be Doing This...

I feel so anti-social for now....been studying (or at least attempting to), and it feels like there's so much more I could be doing...

Keather's out at some meeting thing, I have no clue. I wouldn't be surprised though if she's off frolicking with Trey, he mentioned a slip-n-slide party at his fraternity. She's still bragging about how many friends she's made with guys. Ha. Sooner or later, it's going to dawn on her that that's not how you get a guy. You get a guy by being yourself--not by befriending as many of them as possible. The more guy friends you end up with, the more you become "that girl"...hell, the more you whore around with other guys, the more you become "that girl", but it's more like "THAT girl"....but there comes a time where they view you just as a friend, nothing more. Most men aren't stupid, they know when they've got a good friendship going. Different story with boys, but that's a different rant, lol.

Bah.

There's a campfire too down at the park with the Honors Association, I'm really tempted to see if anyone else wants to go to that. Maybe if I went to that I'd feel more productive...and it's not like I haven't been, I did some studying and hung out with Val and Lathasha a bit today too. Plus the Volante meeting today. I get paid to write columns, woot!

Which reminds me, mah checkies came in. They's got NASCAR on them. :3

And I think I might've gotten the Coyote Card thing figured out....so, I have 80 meals to use at the Commons, PLUS about $600 in flex money that I can use at the dining places in the Muc? At least that's the impression that I'm on now....but otherwise, my Coyote ID is devoid of cash. :O

Also, I'm thinking of downloading GIMP for the laptop. I hate GIMP, but I'm PSP/Photoshop-less down here. It's all on my old laptop. :/

Ahh well. I should really stop procrastinating here and work on studying. Blah.

Ignorance. It Plagues Me.

All righty, so I'm battling many things as of now. Cramps are on the verge of killing me, but thankfully are just remaining at uncomfortable. I don't really have an urge to go play Sims 3 either at this moment. I'm comforting myself by eating Jello and a can of Dr. Pepper nearby (as usual, lol). And as if the ignorance that is Jackass and my cousin isn't enough, I get to deal with it from the Dark-Hunter bbs as well. YAY!

Here's the whole schpiel, since I have nothing else to do really....

Callista: the comedian thing i didn't agree with either. I would have liked Jeff or Dane for sure. see half the awards they didn't even announce either, which is stupid i have to say. if they have more awards than possible then maybe they need to cut down so they can do them all.

Me: Buuuuuut if you think their list of awards is long, you have no idea, LOL. The larger network awards like the Grammy's or Emmy's have award lists that go on FOREVER! The Grammy's are especially long, because it celebrates music. And the thing is, as great as pop, country and rock are, that completely leaves out the composed music for movies and television, plus musicals, folk, jazz, latin, and world music...soooo yeah, they do have too many awards to give away during an award show. But they still deserve the credit for their work.

Callista: I know the Grammy's are long. i watch them. they at least present EACH AWARD. the TCA didn't even do that.

Me: As for the Grammy's......I'm sorry if I wasn't entirely clear there, but they DON'T show each award during the Grammy's. Like I said, the award list is extremely long, as in 108 categories. Between giving awards, performances, and commercials, there's no way they showed all 108 awards in that timespan... :X

Callista: well my thought would be that if you're going to do an award show you should present all of the awards or cut down on how many you give away. just seems kind of pointless to me

Me: Well, for the most part they do....for the Grammy's, they have an unaired award presentation for those who don't make the primetime slot. And when the majority of viewers don't know who is who in the more specific categories, they'd tune out and probably change the channel. It's why they focus on more mainstream categories, and put the most emphasis on the 4 general categories.

Me: The thing is, if you're a director looking for an amazing composer, you're going to be looking for that person who has won Grammy's or any other award for their work. And just because they weren't recognized on network television in front of millions of people, that award is still apart of their resume, and employers WILL take notice. Sometimes they really do need that specialty category, rather than whoever won the general category--it's just that, general.

I am waiting for her response, but I doubt I'll get one. When you've been served a dose of reality, it is hard to argue with it. Therefore, I call this a victory for the youngster! And yes, this Callista_Rose chick is older than me--and somehow is going for a nursing degree. Honestly, with that sort of thinking, I fear for her. And for those who end up under her care as a patient. :O

And yay, Blogger is spazzing out too! I shall cross my fingers and only hope this posts. :/
