One Thing at a Time

Ohhh boy. Today was an interesting day. Besides the fact that I went to bed at 4:30 am working on compiling our group paper, I ended up procrastinating through most of the afternoon on it. I did get it done....around 10:30 tonight. And the other thing is, the Internet completely died at around 3 pm this afternoon. The only thing we were able to access was the USD website and our email, but any other outside sources? Nope. So when it came to turning in the paper, we were fucked because we had to use an outside source to turn it in. Well then! My solution was to email it to my Honors advisor, because he's one of the three professors we have in the class. He'll know which professor is actually responsible for grading it, and I at least made an effort to turn it in to someone, somehow.

Hot Canadian Bacon and us have started planning for Halloween already today. He's originally planned to be the Mad Hatter, but today he decided he's going to choose between that and Tony Stark. Problem is, Tony Stark would be too damn easy for him, why not make it interesting. We voted Mad Hatter, so then at around dinnertime we began a mental roster of who's who. It's a pretty elaborate plan actually, and as I claimed Alice, I'm on the lookout for some pretty sweet outfits....most likely will turn to Spirit Halloween or Amazon.com though, bahaha!

Probably this one, though: http://www.spirithalloween.com/product/alice-womens-costume/

Then later in the night, Laurel and Michelle started giving HCB crap for finding a girl. Blonde, tall enough for him, and most definitely 21, all traits he says he wants, although if she's the girl who can't tell the difference between know and no, then she's out. He got pretty pissed at them though and was adamant that it was all social, not a prospect, lulz. I'm inclined to believe him, because if it were serious, he'd tell someone, most likely me. That someone who knew the earliest was Dillon, and he's one of the CAs that gives HCB the most crap about being Canadian, so bad call there. Dillon would be the first to throw any and all information out there to use against him. Pffft.

I don't know why he puts up with it all sometimes, lol. He still insisted on coming out to the front desk somewhere around 1:30, which is normal, but with the way the others were making jabs at him...well then. I was surprisingly quiet compared to the rest of them tonight, too. Usually I'm one of the first to come up with a good one-liner, but meh, the rest were doing a pretty good job, no need to add more to the fire. I thought he had mumbled something about me being his new favorite when they were all trying to get information on the blonde girl, but I wasn't paying attention close enough to actually confirm that.

Does it honestly matter? Not really. With all the jabs made that Sarah's the first one he'd marry for American citizenship, they've made it clear it's a joke. Sarah wouldn't go for it, nope nope. And if the tall blonde wasn't an indication, well.....yup. That's how it'll be.

Mehh. I have a test at 9 am and I've barely had a chance to study. I also have to find time to shower. Yay for four hours of sleep tonight?

Food Addiction, I Haz It

I have issues with food, I think. Earlier today I had the thought "Hey, I wanna go to Burger King and order more food than I normally do tonight." So at 7, I went to Burger King and ordered a medium combo of the BK Doublestacker, then added a 6 pc. chicken fries to the list. And yes, I finished it all, and it was glorious.

Meanwhile, Hot Canadian Bacon was in his apartment making steak and bacon, and everyone knew it. Anyone who walked through Beede's entrance could smell it. And I didn't get any bacon.... :(

But no matter, because Brookney came back from SuFu with leftover ravioli from Olive Garden! It smelled absolutely glorious....and I'm having some now, just before 1 am. The rest will be saved for tomorrow or something.

Then again, HCB said he's having the leftover steak for breakfast....but he didn't say anything about the bacon in the morning. But with the way I've been eating the past 6 hours or so, I may not have the capacity for steak. BUT, it was made by HCB.....and he's a pretty fucking good cook. A couple days ago he was making sausage and potatoes and a bunch of other crap, and we told him he had to share. Or maybe I did, I don't remember. Either way, he came out with a bowl of sausage for Kacee and I, and holy shit was it good. D:

He told me that I'm easily bought off with food, and I think he may be right. >.>

Yay Friday?

I've no idea where to start now....

Well to start, I don't know whether to close up the front desk or not because Laurel and Jessie aren't back from duty rounds. And Laurel kind of forgot her keys next to mine, sooo she's going to need those to get back to her room. Hmmm...

Also, HCB's got issues with the Wall Street Journal not knowing how the fuck to deliver the paper through the mail. Some guy delivers it by hand and he insists on doing it at 3 in the morning. WTF?

For some reason, 12:15 am turned out to be a very busy time. At that moment, I had a group of kids come inside, one of the individuals being a kid that went to my high school named Tommy. And he felt the need to tell me that if I wasn't a CA, he would ask me for my number......flattered, but just a little creeped out by that. >.>

Then one of the girls that was with Tommy had to ask me who HCB was (his name was on the duty board), and then she went to tell me that she had left her phone number on the windshield of his car once. In front of her, I just went "Ahhh..." and nodded. When she was past the mailboxes, I swore to myself OMFG and texted HCB that I had found his mysterious Christine girl from Vermillion. After putting my ninja sleuthing skills to use, I found her on Facebook and showed her to HCB. He was more confused because he'd never seen her before in his life. But at least she's on 3rd floor Olson, so she's on the other side of the building.

It's now raining outside. Just so you know.

Now the thing was, I texted about Christine as soon as I was able...which was a couple minutes after the fact, because I had two residents that had to tell me about TKE getting busted and a girl falling off the balcony of another house. So now TKE's been busted, Delt is in trouble for a girl falling off the balcony of their building, and that girl who fell and cracked her head? She was an Alpha Phi. She's fine, even though they had to fly her to SuFu to take CT scans. Long story short, this was a shitty night for the Greek houses.

Now to backtrack, earlier in the night I was playing Pandora and enjoying the 80s night I was having at the front desk. Normally I don't work this shift, I was just covering for Michelle. But HCB came back from bowling with his best friend Chris, and that was amusing. Chris tried to give me a hard time about playing 80s music when I was born in '91, but I just laughed it off. He also didn't understand half of what I was saying, but meh, I was tired. HCB finally talked him into going into his apartment to watch a movie or something, then ditched him to tell me that Chris was wasted. Like that wasn't too obvious, bahaha!

However, I did like the gesture of coming back out just to talk to meh. We started talking about bowling and stuffs. And yeah, he smelled fantastic tonight, and it taunted me for a while after he left....stupid cologne. >.>

He came back out again 5 minutes later to tell me Chris passed out on the floor. I laughed for a while after that. :P

HCB came out quite a bit tonight, which was fun. Between us and Laurel and Jessie, we talked about lots of interesting stuff. Then my Internet shit out on me, so I had to restart it, and HCB was quite intrigued by my desktop wallpaper of my Rafael. Sooo we spent about 5 minutes on Rafael pictures....which had the potential to be awkward. Especially when HCB makes the comment "Holy crap, who was that? He was fucking hot..."

/facepalm.

Dave from the Ritchie building had to give me shit today, too. He not only teased me for wearing a denim jacket with denim jeans (ahem, my shirt and knee-high boots were black and coordinated well, thank you very much), but he called my jacket a Canadian jacket. Pffft....ah well, at least HCB liked my boots.

Then meanwhile, HCB had to make photocopies of all the room condition checklists. He could've made all of his staff kids do it, but noooo, he had to be awesome and photocopy them for everyone. So the least I could do was just three-hole punch them. But nooooo, my own hall director Kristi didn't want me doing their 'work'. So I said fuck it, told HCB what Kristi said, and did it anyway. I got a thank you out of the deal, then went to Dairy Queen with Jessie and Kristi, lulz.

Anything else that happened....well, I did get to visit with Josh tonight, he's apparently visiting for the weekend. Yay Sami for not completely ditching him, and double yay for him not killing himself? Yeah...I don't even know anymore.

Drunk kids are amusing, but only to a point. :/

I Shouldn't Be Mentoring...?

Quote of the day: "You have mentees? And I thought it was bad that HCB had mentees..."

FML. Apparently I'm a worse candidate for being a mentor than HCB. And this, coming from the antisocial CA on 3rd Mickelson, Terrance. He then went on to make fun of me for my small size, saying I couldn't carry a couple packages to the other desk. Grrrr.....

But HCB's in a good mood today, he was singing in the office again. Terrance told him to stop singing, and I yelled from the mailroom that it was what he did, he won't stop. I got a "That's my girl!" out of the deal, so it made me happy.

On the other hand, he told Terrance that his job was to find HCB an American to marry. I think I've come up with a suitable response to that....now for the perfect moment to put it to use.

To add to this news, I'm about to get paid. I had a chance to go to the Volante office and help with making changes to the opinion articles while Frank added Overheards to the section. I then went back over, kept myself busy with meetings and stuff, and now am putting off more shit. I chilled with HCB's best friend Chris in the hall directors' office, which was fun. We sat there and bothered HCB as he tried to work. We then also talked about Mitchell a bunch, because the two of them went to Dakota Wesleyan before coming to USD.

However, the Mitchell connections explain a lot. The reason why HCB doesn't like the Vikings? Mitchell native Chad Greenway.....who would've thought? lulz

I also made him laugh earlier. He was once again targeting Sarah and I for possible marriage targets. Even though Sarah's the first in most cases. But the moment he looked at me and said "You're single, too..." I smiled and said "Hey, at least I'll be useful!"

He couldn't keep a straight face from that. :3

Meh.

Well I was going to start by going into how today had turned out, but I got distracted by Facebook. Apparently one of my high school friends is dating my guy Honors mentee. Amggg it's so cute!! :D

Also, Revolverheld has a new album and I'm tempted to order it from Amazon. Even though it'd cost $18. But the songs are really good.....damn.

Anyhow, this was how the day went. I finally got to bed at 4:20am. I wake up at 10:40. We're talking six hours of sleep here, and I had no reason to get up at that hour. I had a plan of sleeping past noon, that didn't happen! Grrrr...so a little after 11 I go downstairs, only to discover no one is at the front desk. As in no one showed up to open the desk up...oops. Kati forgot this morning, so Terrance had to do it when he showed up for his noon shift. Not a big deal, but since no one's said anything about it to the hall directors, we're gonna keep it on the down-low.

So I go back upstairs, hang for a little while, then go back down to the front desk for pretty much the remainder of the day. Long story short, my room was fucking COLD, and there were people around. I spent the time working on a paper, which I got done a lot sooner than the deadline compared to the other papers I turned in....well then. Meanwhile, my poor hall director was running around because DPS was in and out, literally running all over...no idea what was going on, and we found it amusing that all the other residents like to ask us if we know what's going on, which we don't. But anyways, I'm wondering if she's even had a chance to sleep int he past 24 hours or so.

Then the rest of the night was semi-chaotic. Not only was I on duty....again....but I also had CA class. Which meant that while I was over at the MUC for class, I had to find someone to cover for me while I was on duty. It turned out fine in the end because I got back in time for rounds, but now every other weekend I'll have to find someone to cover me for duty while I'm at class. Ugh....

Then HCB FINALLY got back late tonight, jet-lagged and all. And ahhhhhh, did he have stories to tell....To start, he didn't pay an immigration fee, so he had to pay for that before he left Toronto. He then was "randomly selected for a thorough screening". Aka, he was apparently randomly selected for a strip search. Fucking Canadians, bahaha! He went with the new x-ray scan, which wasn't much of a surprise. However, because of it he was about a hairbreadth away from missing the flight out. Then on top of those issues, he ALSO lost his ticket back to Sioux Falls. So he had to have them print him off a new ticket before he got back. He did look like hell when he got back... :/

Even more depressing, he won't be able to play hockey this year. His insurance would be $2,000 more if he did, so it's a no-go. He said he'll take that extra time and put it towards his American-wife-finding (thanks to the immigration plane hell he went through, he's extra adamant about marrying an American). But he's refined it to preferably over 21. Preferably being the key word, lulz. Pretty much, the whole crazy fiasco he just went through has left him crazy. He was having a hard time remembering who was even on his staff, let alone our other hall director. Which was why I was pretty much designated as assistant. He's had to ask me multiple times how many programs we have to do and he always forgets the event one, so he always ends up asking me.

I'm pretty sure I just existed to annoy him tonight, but he won't remember with the whole jet-lag. :3

AMGGGGG

Wow. Just wow. Freshmen drama that I actually comprehend? NO WAY.

All right, so I spend a good portion of the night at the front desk where all of the friendly drunk people are wandering in. Which is funny as it is, because at 12:30am already I was getting drunk phonecalls from my friend Adam. It's so amusing, but he lost his sweater and he's all sad about it. :P

So finally at around 2:50 I go back up to my floor. I walk in, and there's about three girls standing outside of the trouble door 401 (same girls who never returned the vacuum and left garbage in the hall). I go to my room, and there's Amanda (who's probably one of my favorites, don't let anyone know I have favorites) crying near my door and talking with one of the guys. Now first I'm freaking out because I'm worried as to how long she'd been there if she had needed me, but all I did was I walked straight up to her and hugged her.

Then I gave her another two or three hugs to make her feel better, then we started chatting it up. It was quite the bonding experience. But anyhow, everyone was upset because vacuum-fail Sami is having boyfriend issues. Long story short, Sami's retarded and is cheating on her boyfriend Josh, and he just found out tonight. So he had threatened to kill himself, and Sami's all crying over it as they talk on some ichat. Amanda's crying because she had a friend who killed himself and does NOT want anyone to repeat that experience. The shitty thing is, I went to school with Josh. More specifically, I was in the same class as him in elementary school--as in we were in the combination class of 4th and 5th graders. Josh was 4th grade, I was 5th grade. It was weird.

And now this. Honestly, it's uncharacteristic of him, and is only supported by the whole threatening deal. If he were serious, he wouldn't have threatened with it. Not to mention he was the best damn cross country runner that SD has had in a LONG time. But I just feel very strange that I actually know who all is involved here? Holy crap.....

"Yeah, hayyyyy, remember me from elementary school? YEAH! Please don't kill yourself, it's just that your girlfriend is an immature bitch who can't return vacuums, much less remember how to keep her pants on. You're young and actually awesome at running, those two alone will get you women who won't cheat on you. YAYYY!"

:/

But no, seriously, Amanda said that Sami was too immature to realize that what she does is wrong, and I hadn't even had the chance to open my mouth yet. Yes, she is awesome.

(Sorry, this is actually quite a serious post, but COME ON......I'm not a dramatic person as it is; it feels weird getting so close to it with freaking elementary school classmates.)

Do I dare even go into when I followed the other duty CAs Ashleigh and Matt on their outside rounds check and found that 1st Olson's corner room had vodka in it? Oh yeah....not to mention they had underage high school kids there. Good job kids!! You've now been dealt a dose of reality. Even when we're not technically on rounds anymore, we'll still bust your ass. Also, close your fucking door. And don't be loud, being loud makes the drunken stupor even more obvious. What's hilarious is how there are freshmen who hate the repercussions of drinking, but they do it anyway. When it's rare, I totally get that, but come on....please don't die on me anyone, I enjoy your company too much. For the most part. :(

Fuck I'm Bored.

I had a student come to me about a problem. His sister is staying here for the weekend, and she probably won't be able to get back to their home in Mobridge till Wednesday. The problem? She'll be missing school Monday & Tuesday.

Again I ask, the problem?

Uhh.......I've no clue. It's not like his sister CAN'T stay here, because 24 hour visitation has been approved. And it's not that big of a deal for him to miss school because all you have to do is email the professors saying you won't be in classes for that day.

Seriously, the problem was that his sister would be missing school, which I'm assuming was high school. And she's already missed a few days. Ahhh, what problem? It's purely advice, because there's nothing we can do about it, but has it ever occurred to him to I don't know....just take your sister back tomorrow, then she won't miss school? I mean, if you can't get her back in time, then there's really nothing much else you can do about it. You can't get her back, then she won't go back. If you can, them maybe she should go back. Plan, kids, plan!
